Court Date Tomm for Improper Muffler

Anything I could do to reduce this 110 dollar fine? Any advice? Past Experiences? Thanks.

How is it an improper muffler?

Rough times for the po po too. Should be going after all the arses on the cell phones while driving, people who race reds and drive like they just got out of the bar.

Court date?

You should have just went to see the Justice of Peace and asked him to lower the price. I did that over 10 times when I got tickets for the muffler on my Civic being an overly loud fart cannon.

Since you are going to court, just tell the jugde you are student, tight on cash, and will try and get the muffler replaced, etc....he will lower the ticket or maybe even throw it out. Trust me it works, I've been through this multiple times and most of the times they throw out the ticket or lower it to $40.

Good luck.

all good advice . if the cop dosent show say not guilty 100% , if he shows say sorry and that u will fix it as soon as u have the cash but because ur a student it might take a while .

Thanks for the advice, I asked to see the Justice of Peace but they said they dont do that for this 'type' of ticket, so it has to go straight to court. Do I plead guilty and say ill change it or do i plead not guilty and say ill change it?

k1e1v1i1n 08-Apr-2009 02:28 PM

whenever the cop dosent show up u say not guilty they toss it out 100% of the time . no witness no case .

weezybaby 08-Apr-2009 02:48 PM

How do I know which cop they all look the same too me

k1e1v1i1n 08-Apr-2009 02:50 PM

u will rember his face . if u really cant tell find his name on the ticket and then ask for him when u get there . i am sure if hes there he wont be hard to find .

I could understand the problem if you where running an exhaust with no cat as an improper exhaust. The question is how do Harleys and other motorcycles get away with such high decibels? I know that that is the way it comes from the factory, but geez.

Vibrant and Apexi make cat-backs and mufflers almost identical to those used on the ctr and itr. Highflow cat to resonator to practically an oem muffler.

A friend of mind put on a highflow cat with res and nearly oem muffler. Everytime he gets pulled over and asked about it, he pull out his blackberry and shows the pics to the cop that it's all legit. He's never got a ticket for that reason.

Make sure you take some proof with you.

Another thing is that when i had the 97 SI, i got pulled over all the time because of the tinted windows. Since i bought the EG (3 years ago), i've been pulled over twice due to speeding. The EG does not have any tint and my cat-back is a Magnaflow fart can.

If you are confident enough that the exhaust, tell the judge or crown attorney that you are willing to take the car to an inspection station to prove that it is legit. If you know that the exhaust is not legit, DO NOT LIE.
