Civic crushed by bus while parked. need advice.

Ok guys I need some advice plz. My car was legally parked on a side street, the police knocked on my front door to inform me a city bus had struck my vehicle and left, leaving only a business card.
My car was declared totalled and i am being offered a terribly low amount for it. It is a 93 si hatchback with 375k on it. Do i have any options outside of insurance? ie contact the town to pay the differnce or am i SOL?? I only ask cuz i cannot buy a car for what my insurance is offering.. Im at no fault for anything and feel i should not be put into a worse financial situation...

THANKS

you can dispute the amount your insurance company is settling the claim for... get your vehicle appraised elsewhere and look at autotrader and other sites for how much your car is selling for

find another 93 Civic on kijiji, trader.ca, etc and tell them to buy it for you... otherwise they'll just give you whatever they deem as the value of the car.

If not find as many 93 Civics on these sites and show them the prices, they'll probably call some of these people and haggle them to get a lower price, then they will base the payout on the average of these cars.

damn that really sucks..
i bought my car for 1000$
and i had my car reappraised last week..just to save myself from this trouble in the future if something like this was to happen..jus get it reappraised...thats the best way to go...and yes u can always dispute the settlement...

also..if i was u..i would buy back your civic under ur frens name or something and part it out..i would if ihad a better engine in it
