Cheaper car insurance for those with a bad driving record?

hey guys, can anyone help me here? im looking for a cheaper quote for my 95 cx. my latest quote is 581 a month with 200,000 liability, but works out to 650 a month with 1 million. this quote was provided from Larry Grummett Insurance Brokers, in Hanover.

4 "minor tickets"
1 "major ticket"
1 accident, not claimed, all of this happened roughly a year ago.
Im 18 years old turning 19 in april. i know, its really bad, but im not in the same boat. any input would be great, thanks guys.

You're being quoted $7,000 a year on a 10-year-old car in a location far, far away from the GTA?

Does that quote at least include collision and comprehensive? Naw, 10-year-old car, probably not...

There is something to be thankful for - you're not trying to get insurance as a resident of the GTA. Then again, in the GTA you at least have the option of going without a car and using local transit systems instead.

With that driving record, you;re looking at surcharge on surcharge. You might be able to do a [b]bit[/i] better if you shop around, but I don't think you have a snowball's chance in hell of gettiing anything substantially cheaper.

It may be time to sell your car and borrow mom's car for the next 3 or 4 years while you try to repair your driving record.

It looks like your one ticket away from losing your drivers license point wise.

If you go under your mother's vehicle as a secondary driver, I think her rate will get affected, too? Though you will be paying the difference, but that is a hassle she probably doesn't want.

How about getting a really beat up beater and drive that instead? Not driving a Civic might help a little.

Two years to go? Maybe for some of the surcharges...

A major ticket can affect your rates for 5 or 6 years from date of conviction, depending on the insurance company.
