Do you have license suspensions in there as well?

All you can do is call as many brokers as you can to see what's available. With your record I can't see anyone other than Facility wanting to touch you until you've got a lot of years of clean driving under your belt.

That $750 per month, is that for an early 90's Civic? If so, try and get a price for a similar vintage Toyota Corolla or Chevy Cavalier, or even an 2WD pick-up truck. You might be surprised at the difference.

I do know one thing. If I was being quoted rates at $750 a month ($9,000 a year) and I didn't have an absolute need to drive, I'd park or sell the car for a few years and take cabs, ride the bus, bike or walk.

Or, you get one of these. $600 plus shipping brand new. No insurance required. And it uses less gasoline than anything else on the road.

My insurance is $1200/year and I think that's a ripoff ! $750 a month ? My God.

hey dude , i know this place in markham. They are like insurance broker , they have many contacts and they can get you the cheapest insurance in toronto. I was somewhat in a similar situation with my civic (age wise and with 1 accident). Anyways they do charge a lot for their service , i think its like 450-600 but they are pretty good at getting you a much much cheaper price. I ve seen a lot of people with bad bad records go to them and just paying the fee so that they can get a cheaper insurance. They are legit , you get a receipt and they have an office. You tell them the true , no more lying and they can probably help you. I ll look up for their info and i can maybe pm , worth the try ( if you ar enot satisfied with their quote just dont pay them)...

Also , if you want a cheaper insurance , i will highly recommend you to fnd a friend in montreal , or somewhere outside the GTA as insurances tends to be a lot cheaper outside toronto. You just need an address and the person living there that can received the letters. For instance my friends dad lives in sudbury and he has his car registered there , he is saving like almost a like 100 a month because of it.

It sucks , i drove without insurance for 2 years because my insurance was like 450 a month and i couldnt afford it but to be honest with you dont do it. I never got caught but now that i think about it , i was being stupid ..

This is some incredibly bad advice.

The OP has already had his insurance cancelled for misrepresentation because of his failure to disclose his driving record. That's one of the reasons his current insurance quote is so high. That also has the effect of painting a big bullseye on his forehead.

Falsifying his place of residence is also misrepresentation and grounds for cancellation. What do you think will happen to his rates if he is cancelled for misrepresentation a second time?

The even higher rates would be the least of his worries. Because of his previous insurance cancellation due to misrepresentation, it won't take much to instigate a closer look at him. Let's say he has another crash and the insurance company decides to do a quick background check on him. Remember, he's got that bullseye on his forehead because of his previous cancellation for misrepresentation.

If they find out that he really doesn't live where he claims he lives, they will rightfully consider his policy to be fraudulently obtained, they will refuse to pay out on that crash claim, and they will cancel his policy for misrepresentation. Now, not only can he find himself liable for being sued by the other driver, he also has the prospect of trying to find replacement insurance again, only this time as a two-time loser.

Only a stupid person would pay a broker to find them cheaper insurance.

There's nothing these people do that a driver can't do himself by calling around to a handful of brokers.

as far as i can remember you are a cop .. therefore i m not going to argue with you ... Obviously you have your own views on the topic but what you just said is not likely to happen. You are always going to follow the book to the fullest but that does not mean a lot of people can find glidges in the system....

If the OP is given a 750$ a month insurance , for me it is a ripped off , the whole insurance business is a big ripoff . Therefore i dont feel bad people are finding glidges in the system to pay less insurance.
Hell , i dont have any accidents or tickets and my insurance has gone up 50 dollars a month in the last 2 years and there is nothing i can do because no other insurance is offering a cheaper price , is it fair .. hell no .. but insurance do take advantage of people so screw them..

Insurance is for your protection. Without it you stand the chance at destroying you entire financial life. My neighbor a couple of yrs back thought he would be smart and do the insurance from Alberta thing. His brother lived there or something? Well I don't know all the details but he lost his house and car when he had a small accident which caused some injuries. He got sued and the insurance company voided his insurance. Last I talked to him he still can't get a car as one the insurance it too high and since he has his cheques garnished still he can't get credit.
You made your bed now lie in it? sorry

i too believe that insurance is a complete rip off. mind u i dont pay anywhere near that much but a rip off reguardless. best advice i could give u is sell or park the civic till ur 25, buy a car/truck/mini van that dosnt have a stipid high insureance rate, dont do anything stupid and avoid a claim. and after a few years of claim free driving, turning 25 and getting your G it will for sure go down. how does that saying go.....ya gotta pay to play! best of luck man
