Change ownership on car !!!!
 

Dont know if this is the right place to ask this or not....but looking for some info on changing the model of my car... I have a 99 Si Coupe and I want to legally change it over to an SIR for insurance purpose... has anyone made this change before and could help give me some info on what to do...ive filled out some form on the MTO site but havent heard any response yet...

why you wanna pay higher insurance? i dont believe ins. companies can change the trim of the car like that.

cause im lookin to invest a lot in my car and the insurance company wont cover me if it doesnt have the proper specs...i get discount with a company because of where I work..so im not worried about paying alittle more for insurance...I know insurance company cant change it ....but i know the MTO can....but dont know how to go about getting that done...ive emailed MTO already but havent heard any resposnse...

I think unless you actually swap the motor to an SIR one, you can't just say you have an SIR on paper.

Do I just need papers from the Dealership stating that my car has all the specs to say its a SIR? then take that to the MTO??

I would think that the paperwork that came with the motor containing the serial number would be needed. I don't thin your insurance company requires you to change the ownership to offer the correct coverage. You should just show them your receipts for your parts to show the increse in value.

the company that im with doesnt allow engine swaps but everything else is fine...the only way around is getting the model changed...
