I need help badly somebody rear ended me yesterday may car frame was bent..by the way my car is 02 civic coupe. having neck and back problems too.. I dont know if the insurance will just write off the car or not.. my insurance told me to go to this collision center which is "CERTIFIED"?? by thier insurance company...but
my question is can I choose my own shop ? or not?
they told me that their collision center will be lifetime guaranteed ...
the name of the shop is birchmount collision any comments about the shop is welcome as well??

Yes it is yuor right to take your vehicle to any shop that you please to, they can not tell you where to bring your vehicle, it's totally up to you.

lately, insurance companies have been trying VERY hard to make ppl go to a shop thats close to their place of living. I know this cause i have a very good family friend who owns a body shop.

civicEJ1 01-Apr-2009 11:06 AM

yea bmount collision center/

long as u have the coverage u should be good. i had to go their wen i hit the deer and my insurance company wasnt a prt of their and the police made me go there and i had to pay something like 400 dollars to get my car out after one night

i was sooooooooo pissed

your insurance company cannot make you go to one of there certified shops.. the only benefit with that is an adjuster doesn't have to come look at your car and there is a warranty on it. I dunno about life time, I think with mine its only 10 years, but maybe other insurance companies are different. If you choose to go with a shop of your choice, an adjuster will come out and take a look at your car. Lets say the adjuster says the damage is worth $1500 but your shop is charging your $2000, insurance will only pay $1500. You can dispute that, but good luck.

I think you should go with the certified shop, they are trusted shops and you can have the satisfaction your car will be repaired properly.

bbarbulo 01-Apr-2009 04:11 PM

go to a certified shop cuz they will have a great incentive to remain in good standing with the insurance co, so if there are any problems they will be more likely to take care of you rather than having you file a complaint with the insurnace company which may result in them losing their status.

civc12 01-Apr-2009 04:14 PM

so? that does mean the shop will give hte price for the caR?

miss_jess 01-Apr-2009 05:07 PM

if you go to a certified shop your insurance company will pay for all damages, if there is a problem with something they repaired they will fix it at no cost

Post some pics.

Any idea of what speed they were doing when they hit you?
And what type of vehicle hit you?

If it's seriously bent like you said, the car won't feel the same again. Sounds like a write off so far.

RadEp3 02-Apr-2009 12:17 AM

they might not write it off. i bought a car off an auction before with the hatch, light, shock and rear quarter panel messed up. it was a write off....(obviously)and
p.s.
screw them ok? think of all the money you pay for insurance. take the **** back home to honda. and make them rack up the bill. get blue sparkles on your clearcoat finish if you want to.let the ins company pay for all your **** for once. damn! i hate insurance companies.

LOL... you know little about insurance obviously. You can't screw an insurance company hence why everyone hates them because everyone wishes they could screw them. Insurance is not there so when you get into an accident you can 'mod' your car and have insurance pay for it. Insurance is there to put you back in the same position you were prior to the accident, no more no less.

If you could then hell, people would just go around hitting poles because they want a mugen front end... unfortunately it just doesn't work that way

civc12 02-Apr-2009 10:36 AM

If my doctor recommends me to go to physio.. and stuff will my insurance will go up? knowing that its not my fault.

civc12 02-Apr-2009 10:37 AM

ill try to post some pics tom.. car that hit me was 02 altima got only front bumper crack..

miss_jess 02-Apr-2009 10:38 AM

no it wont go up

T-MacK 02-Apr-2009 10:41 AM

You can pick your own body shop. Its' your right to pick any shop you want. I just delt with this same problem 2 years a'go.
And do you even want them to fix a car with a bent frame???
Trust me no matter how good they fix it, your car will never be the same. It will always drive different and it will have more little weird sounds then you can handle. Take the money ...bent frame civic is waste of time fixing.

Thanks for confirming Insurance Fraud. Then again, it was most likely legal.

My insurance company treats me well, so i'd never do that.

yeah... your 'buddy' can drive whatever car he wants. Either your lying or he is, an insurance company is not going to by you a bmw because your car was a write off. Although, I'm sure your just trying to sounds cool or whatever it is your plans are. By all means, think what you want. I am not hear to change your mind. Yes, insurance costs a lot of money, which is why most people hate it. And fyi, you cannot screw an insurance company. But again thanks for coming out. I work for State Farm, and yes people do, ALOT, get away with scamming accidents benefits (pretending there back hurts so they need disability etc), this like that happens ALL the time.

Maybe your friend does drive a bmw and good for him. Either he was driving one before and with his claims cheque he bought another one. Or maybe he used his claims cheque to HELP pay for a bmw.

so no, not cool ;) lol
