CAR ALARMS & Insurance

Ive heard many stories about people calling up the insurance and telling them that their car is equipped with an alarm and receiving a cheaper rate?

Technically, yes, it's supposed to give you a discount just like home alarms do. But, how many companies actually do? that's the question.

you have to show proof of an alarm install from a certified shop

but yes - most companies do give you a discount

All companies are different. I think I was with state farm and I mentioned that I had an alarm on the car and they didn't give 2 shi ts.

when my dad insured my car, he told them i had an alarm and it did give me a slightly cheaper rate. I dont know how much tho, my dad just told me when i first insured it that i had to make sure the alarm was working. so i went and bought a battery for it
