I think it depends on how much you paid for the car.

I was backed into also, so I ended up getting a new door and side mirror (fresh from Honda) it ended up costing about $1600, plus the medical coverage, which i'm still goin through...

post pics of ya can man!

insurance companies will generally start to consider writing off a car when the repairs exceed 75%of the value of the car. If your car is in good shape by all means speak to the adjuster or bodyshop guy and tell them you would prefer the car be repaired if at all possible.

It goes against blue book value for your car...so likely a write-off. But if it's in good shape and you want it fixed speak up MAN!! It's your car after all, not theirs, and you pay insurance like a good boy, so...make a call! Besides, an 88 is prolly worth more written off to you than if you tried to sell but you never know.

I heard you can talk up the value of the car. (i.e. low clicks, clean service record, drive like an old women.). Is it STRICTLY blue book? or is there room to move?
