Can U Drive with no Air Bag?

My air bags are faulty.

Would I be able to pay a little more for my insurance premium and drive with no Air Bags, or will they not even insure me?

I read about a guy in the US who payed an extra $150 a year and he got to drive the car withour Air Bags. $150 was for the risk.

It is considered tampering with a safety system...

I don't know anyone who has done this...

Legally...

From what I have heard, insurance can deny coverage if they find out you tampered with and/or removed your airbags.

Unless you replace it with another wheel with a functional SRS system...

I know a few people that have done this with their cars (actualy they didn't remove the aribag but added a switch to activate and deactivate the system, mainly for the passenger side in case they have a kid in the car.

If ur vehicle was equipped wit airbag it would be illegal to not have them. Your car will not certify/safety. Insurance has the right to not cover you for medical claims incase an accident occurs and you get hurt.

what about racing steering wheels , i know that u have to get rid of your airbag system to have them, would your premium increase if u claim it ? and would your car pass certification if u have no air bag

Read a few posts up...

Tampering any safety devices on an equipped vehicle will void medical claims and fail to pass safety certification.

Cluster

Nobody checks Air Bags during a safety check...

Mine just passed with a nice shiny RED flickering SRS airbag light

Otherwise, just remove your Guage Cluster and pull out the SRS harness. Usually it is the small connector in the bottom center of the back of the cluster.

Damn Insurance Companies :-)

Get a JDM Momo unit with airbag. Would you rather slam your head on an airbag or a plain leather Momo.
