blue washers

Hey, I was just wondering if blue washers are illegal...I've crossed a few cops at night, and it hasn't been a problem. Haven't gotten pulled over YET...If they're illegal, do they confiscate them, or do they just fine you? What's the fine? thanx

If they flash with the hazzard or turn signal.....you'll get a ticket.............if they stay on and don't flash, then you're ok.(blue)

they'll give you a ticket but you might be able to fight it. HTA only restricts "flashing" blue lights and the washer lights dont flash, they just stay on.

My friend got a ticket and it said 'illegal use of headlights'? The cop was an ***. He fought it though and won.

ANY BLUE LIGHT ON THE FRONT OR THE BACK OF YOUR CAR YOU WILL GET A TICKET FOR...This includes windsheild washer lites.

CHECK THE HTA. Only vehicles that are allowed to have blue lite are snow plowing vehicles.

no, that's not exactly right. HTA only restricts FLASHING blue lights. if you have blue lights that stay on and dont flash then you can probably fight it and get off on a technicality. i'm not saying you wont get ticketed though. because nowadays it's not really a matter of what's legal or illegal, it's just what the cop wants to ticket you for.

Then why do buses have blue lights at the top/front of it?
Flashing(like the post above me stated), is illegal.

By the way, I do beleive you can get away with green on the front too......some street cars downtown are starting to use the lights, just like the buses do.
Like I said.....be a prink, and drive like a morron....you'll get tickets comming out your ***.

do you drive a bus?
we drive cars.
rules for other vehicles don't always apply to every vehicle.

In the front of the vehicle, only white or amber light is allowed.
In the back of the vehicle, only white, red, or amber light is allowed. (white/amber/red) for turn signal. red only for brakelights.

check the HTA section 62.

check the HTA section 62.
yes but that section refers to headlights. it specifically says:

"When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one- half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. "

doesnt say anything about colour of turn signals or parking lights. there is another section that restricts red lights at the front however. and yet another that restricts flashing blue lights anywhere on the car. you could have purple lights on the front of your vehicle and as long as you have proper headlights you arent violating anything in the HTA.

technically if you interpret it that way your right. But i believe that a cop and the crown refers to the "headlight" as the whole headlight assembly including turn signals and parking lights.

and because there is no other reference to turn signals and parking lights they can just assume that this is correct. Which could hold up in court.

Blue washer lights are something that aren't directly in the HTA but interpretation could make it hold up in court.

I'm sure that the HTA will be ammended eventually to account for all the rice that u can have on your vehicle now.

I would just recommend not having anything that a cop can pull you over for. ie. washer lites, etc...

unless you are sure that you can fight it in court...there's no point in arguing with the cop cuz what they think and what you think are totally different and it doesn't matter what they think...its what the crown thinks.
