Blog of a Former Police Officer
Hi everybody. My name is Simon Borys. I'm a former police officer who is now going to law school in Ontario. I write a blog entitled Simon Says where I write about issues in policing and law.
I write a lot about traffic issues and dispelling police myths, which I'm sure are topics of interest to car enthusiasts. A couple of my recent topics are "Is signalling always requried?", "Do police officers have a quote of tickets?", Is it illegal to pass on a solid yellow line?" and "Can a police officer still give you a ticket if they're not wearing their hat?" My blog can be found at Simon Borys's Blog Please let me know if you have any comments or any suggestions for topics you'd like to hear about. You can contact me through my blog or at simonborys@yahoo.com |
Some interesting information. Will surely check again later for updated posts

Thanks for the info. How about the ever so popular "improper muffler" ticket, have any info on that type of ticket?
|
Oh yes, plenty of experience :) That's definitely one I want to do, but I'm waiting to see if I can get my hands on a video camera so I can do a youtube blog post and show some props for it.

Yeah all I've ever known about this **** ticket is that here in Ontario we don't have a db law, it's all under a police officer' descretion. So in all reality he choose' whether your exhaust is too loud or not which I think is complete BS. It's like saying I know you were speeding but I don't know how fast you were going, so here' a 20 over speeding ticket.

How about the very speacial "unnecessary noise" ticket that could accompany an "improper muffler" ticket?

I just wrote an article for OntarioTicket.com, entitled Motor vehicle Lighting Laws in Ontario. It gives a full rundown of all required, restricted, and prohibited lights for motor vehicles in Ontario. If you drive a vehicle in Ontario, you should probably check this out!

Are LED lights on the front of a vehicle legal in Ontario? Check out the new post on my blog for the answer.
