Bad news ---Accident

I just got back from an accident on the high way.

The car is considered total loss, all the air bags etc... done, engine....

I did not hit anyone, nor did anyone hit me. The road was damn slippery and loss control. The air bags messed up my face pretty bad, I think I would be better off without the air bags. Right now I am not worried about my face.

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences like this and how would my situation affect insurance. I heard the insurance is going up by 20% and some people says the insurance is not going to do anything. Anyone know, the mechanic says I should go to a physician to claim some medical insurance, so the 20% over 6 years would not be that big. True? Opinions?

go to the dr....as a good nursing student I have heard horror stories any head trauma should lead to immediate medical care to be sure...you only have one brain and those cells do not regenerate plus......... just go to be safe it's worth it

****, i'm glad your alrite, i mean no serious serious injuries
i'm not sure about that, i had written off a car before but its not fair that i have that tag over my shoulder just because the damages exceeded the value of the car
but my insurance primiums did go up a bit.

i'm glad your alright too, in my accident the air bag saved my face from being mashed, so i just guess it's a matter of what kind of accident your involved in....

if you claim medical your preimums will go up even more won't they? the more you claim the higher they go, and i don't know how much you'd get, it's different if you're in an accident with someone else you can kinda of sue their company for the money but if it's your fault they'll just cover the costs of medical treatment and stuff wouldn't they?

I just got out of a similar SMV (single motor vechicle) accident...first off and most important are you ok? second...did the police charge you? if they did they your insurance rates will fly.. as for the claims...accidents stay on your insurance record for 5 years...this means rates do jump the insurance company will adjust your rates as they see fit according to the police report...but unfortunatley expect a hike ...also now that you have made a claim the insurance company will look at your driving history if you have points ect...they will raise your rates even more...

it sucks *** believe me i know all about

I have neck pains and when I washed my hair, I found out I got a bump on my head, it hurts, but the docotr says it is fine. I have to go to the chiro. for one month, everyday.

I really don't know what to do about the insurance situation. There are alot of ways to make money from the claims, I am still in a thinking process and the insurance guy was helping me out also. I will get bacj to you guys really soon, right now it hurts.

how bad is the accident car wise?
if its not tooo big then u might aswell not go thru insurance and do it yourslef. insurance likes to writeoff cars more then fix them cuz it saves them alot of trouble in the future and it also saves alot of time from being wasted. So when they say writeoff it doesnt nesicarally (sp?) mean that.

the car is dead, it is a 2000 model, the mechanic says that Honda has the highest selling value of any car out there, so insurance might fix it. Not sure. I am worry about insurance right now. Insurance says I should change my plans and get renewal plans or they are going to put me on the high risks category and that would be extreme. If I renew the plan or change company, then it would be a 500 - 1000 dollar rise. So drive carefully guys, I thought nothing was going to happen to me, but I guess I was wrong.

couple of yrs ago, i crashed my corolla to avoid an accident.. wound up i didn't hit anyone but the lamp post... the insurance said i was at 100% fault and my insurance just went to mars.....

if i hit the car that i was avoiding, i would probably be better off insurance wise.. er....

good luck man. talk to your doctor, go see a physio or something, it helps
