Avoiding Da Pigs

I have 2 Police Scanners in my car. Each on a seperate division.

Belive me not. This has helped me avoid many many tickets and is perfectly legal.

Yeah

Yeah, you have to be listening.

I swap radios as I enter a different division.
It's actually fun to listen to. You hear a lot of crazy $hit on the radio. Ride Zones, Accidents, fun $**** :-)

They will run you from $400 - $1000 for a decent one.
They will give you hours of fun.

Pork

You can actually purchase them at many places.
I think Radio Shack even carry some.

Their are Hand-Held and In Dash ones.
I think their are some on ebay.ca and ebay.com as well.

It's funny when you get to a scene first haha

haha... i'm pretty sure scanners and any listening in to the police is illegal. infact, this could be a sting operation. you gotta take everything you see/read/hear with a grain of salt.

Well I'm not sure about them being legal or not ... but news crews use them to find out where the news is ....and if they were illegal like radar detectors wouldn't Radio shack be in trouble for selling frequency scanners (as the technical term is) which they do (it's in their catalog) and if listening in to police is wrong does this mean that listening in to a neighbours 900 MHZ cordless phone is illegal too? maybe a cop that reads this board would like to shed some light on this subject of police scanners and legal use of them?

I don't think they are illegal as every tow truck in the city as well as tv news crews have and use them. I don't really see the point in having one though, unless you are out street racing, speeding, driving drunk, etc.

nahh cb's are on another frequency

you can use just one scanner you can put like 50 frequencys in memory and it'll scan through them continuously
and you can pick which divisions you want in them

Scanner's are not legal, if you get busted could be quite abit of trouble! I wouldn't be broadcasting it so openly!

I also can't see how it could prevent you from getting tickets. If your riding around speeding and he is pulling out of a street and radars you, your fucked. They don't announce on what street they are on at all times???

^^ true but when you drive a civic cops don't leave you alone.
Not sure if these scanners are legal, my friend had one and a cop traced it and searched his car for it and they took it away and fined him $550.

i drive a civic and they havent bothered me.
just be a normal person when driving to avoid getting tickets.
i think its the only way for them not to bother a guy/gal driving a civic.
dont drive like how they do in movies.

avoid cops and look all around you b4 you decide to speed. I avoided a radar trap yesterday but luckily I was driving my parents minivan and the cops didnt bother to radar my speed

Hey Rice Burner, i second that thought, when i first got my g2, i drove my dad's corolla, i drove about 5 mins out of my area and i got pulled over. and i still had my hands at 10 and 2 at taht time. and he pulled me over to say taht i looked really young. and he kept me there for quite a while, because i didn't have the photo of the g2, i only had that g1 photo plus that g2 papers. but i was driving perfectly normal. not even speeding or nothing, obeying traffic. got pulled over
and when i got my frist civic. got pulled over the day it left the lot. for what?? i have no idea, cop says it was routine!!! my butt, asian driving a civic.. go figure...
-> well that my .02 anyhow. i don't think its how you drive and how what stupid things you do. although yes it may prevent you but you could be any ordinary joe and get pulled over for no reason.
