auto insurance & married life ??
Hi,
I got a married about two months ago and I haven't told my insurance company yet.
I heard your insurance drops when you get married. true?
I live in Petawawa (372km away) and she lives in Markham.
I just don't want to say i'm married, my wife lives in Markham, and they jack my insurance rates. Also she doesn't drive my car. Since my car is manual and doesn't have any interest in learning how to either.
Do you think the insurance company will basicly 'force me' to insure her on my car even when she won't be driving my car?
Would there even be a point in telling my insurance company I'm married?

Being married should lower your OWN policy because they know you have more responsibilities in life now. Also for men your rates are supposed to drop dramatically when you turn 25 so if I were you I'd go to a new company instead of waiting to renew with your current.

Well.. I'm paying about $1200/y with $300 dec (everything) on my SiR.
I checked out a few other companys when I got my SiR and rates were well through the roof since I had my lic. suspended a few yrs ago for a non-payment of a ticket.
My currently insurance company knows about the suspension.
What is the norm for a discount? 5% 10% ?
I guess emailing my insurance guy and inquire about rates etc., would be the best way to go.
