Auto Collision - Advice
Hi Everyone,
I need advice on a good collision repair shop for $8,000 worth of damage on my car (passenger side front/ airbags/ possible wheel and suspension damage)-covered by insurance. I got hit by a drunk driver that drove right through a red light. My car is currently at Triple Crown Auto Collision - Sisley Honda's go-to place. Anyone ever had any work done here or any reviews? |
From my experience, in a large claim like yours, it can be beneficial to go with a shop that the insurance company recommends because they are on the hook if you're not happy, and the referring body shop has a reputation to withstand with the insurance company (it's all a money thing) so they will be more likely to do what it takes to make sure you are happy with the repair (not saying that they necessarily WILL, just that it's more likely).
On the flipside however, if you know of a body shop that you have full confidence in, going there is also an option, but you have no recourse, other than dealing with any issues yourself which can be tiring, time consuming and overall very frustrating. Regardless of where you decide to have the car fixed, stay on top of the shop and ask for updates every step of the way. There are a lot of areas to cut corners for the sake of some money, and ultimately if the job is cutting into the shop's bottom line, they will cut corners, no doubt about it. Making your presence known (in a good way...you don't want to piss off the people fixing your car) can definitely work in your favour and make the people working on your car feel good about the job they are doing. You kind of have to be a supervisor in a sense. Another thing - it's good to get more than one quote (ideally three at least) for the repairs so you can get an idea of the detail of the repairs. In talking to the shops you can get a feel for them and the kind of work they do. I've never dealt with Sisley Honda's body shop so I can't give any input there. Hope the repairs go well and you're recovering from the accident. |

Another good reason for getting another quote is that for $8,000 worth of work, it may be close to a write off which may work in your favour (depending on the car you drive). $8000 worth of work on a civic is different than $8000 worth of work on a BMW, due to the higher cost of parts and labour. If you get two quotes that are higher than 8K and the insurance company says write the car off, you may be in luck. I personally don't know if I'd want to be driving a car after an accident like that. |

How can a shop justify 8000 worth of damage in a civic???:confused::confused::confused:
Unless the car is completely destroy or something... It kind of reminds me how can tow truck drivers can charge 1000$ tow charge for 20 kms Thats the reason our insurances are so high. These bodyshops and tow truck drivers love insurance claim :D:D I remember when my dads car got hit a couple of years ago and the bodyshop estimated the repair to be 5000 $ if it went through the insurance claim. However a different bodyshop quoted 2000$ if we pay out of our own pocket. At the end we pay 2000 , never had a problem with the car until we sold it |

If he car is old (6+ years), repaint the entire car.. Most of the time, the new paint wont match if you paint some sections of an old car.. since the paint may be faded already.

8000$ seems really steep for a civic I dunno if I would trust driving around in it after $8000 of repairs went into it they can only fix so much. Lots of hidden damages. If you want a real good place that does great work is 427 auto collision my family had three cars done there before and great each time. Nice people to deal with they get it done fairly fast they help you with the rentals, and they clean your car completely from inside to out.
But like stated above with $8000 in damages I would not want that car anymore. |
