There not risking anything? You obviously have no knowledge about how an insurance company operates.

then tell me, why ask the government to double or raise the rates?

In business, isnt it "survival of the fittest"

There asking the government to raise rates because the cost of doing business is rising. For instance, and auto claim has becoem more expensive becuase of rising costs at a body shop, a rental agency, and a tow yard. Now, if someone is injured, they will need physiotherapy, massage therapy and hydrotherapy. All three of these sectors are known for gouging insurance companies as they have no regualtions to keep their demand for costs in line. Therefore, a claim that use to cost on average $900 or so, now costs $1800 because of the rising costs of the industries the insurance company deals with. Its a trickle down effect, if a claim cost more, then premiums go up to cover those claims. Insurance companies are in business to make money, make no doubt about it, but you act like they bring in a ton of mopney becuase of auto premiums Get a clue, the money is made in Commerical liability policies and investments. Auto premiums haven't made a company money in Ontario since the 70's. Take a look at a company financial statement before you speak.

If the insurance comapny cant handle that then they shouldn't be in that business.

Think about it, someone with clean record, same car *a year older now* renew his insurance to find that his insurance rate increased. wouldnt you be pissed about it.

Insurance company isnt suppose to make the government money, its purpose is to pay the claim. Thats were the 90 cents gas is for.

We pay high taxes thats ok with me, all I want to know is were my money is going.... Look at the US, they pay almost the same taxes as we do. atleast they know their money is going to the millitary, look at canada, look at its millitary, peacemaker... snow plower... think about it. If we have better roads, insurance that doesnt increase *if you have a good clean record* then im going to be contented. I just dont want my tax money going to some government official going to some country in europe for a "diplomatic visit" which cost us a couple million dollars, come on isnt that a little bit expensive.

Let me ask you this Is it fair to increase your insurance rate even though you have a clean record? YES OR NO

END of discussion...

Your discussion goes from your logic of how insurance companies work, to taxes? Who the **** is talking about taxes? Who said Insurance Companies are making the government money? Your just inventing things to say ...

You said is it fair to increase rates ... Well, would you like your claim paid for ? YES OR NO? ... Do you not relaize that they are raising rates for everyone, to pay for the increase cost of claims ... clean record or not, its getting more expensive to drive. And you logic on "if the insurance company can't handle that" doesn't make sense either ...Who is going to pay for damages to your car, or injuires if there are no insurance compaines? WHO? You have all the theories, but none are practical.... Insurance companies are NOT non-profit organizations, but they don't make a ton of money either ..its a business, they make money ..

even though i agree with insuranceman that the taxes has nothing to do with insurance, but what you said about the use of tax money in the USA, remember, we have one thing that the USA doesn't have, Health Care. you can easily find out what our taxes are being used for, do some research.

though i do agree with you Aero about premiums rising even though they have a clean record. my insurance increased over $1000 dollars for no reason. no tickets, accidents, NOTHING. i don't find this fair. now i can barely pay for insurance and tuition, and i need to drive to school. my fathers insurance increased 500 dollars, and he's had a clean record since he began driving here 30+ years ago. how is this fair.

insurance needs to do something about shady body shops and physiotherapy places. not the persons fault that the insurance company has no problem getting ****ed up the *** costs wise. all the do is increase premiums and they think the problems solved.

There needs to be a legislative body who monitors pricing and work done by all forms of therapy - the fact that there isn't makes price gauging a reality, which gets passed onto the consumer ... and as far as body shops, companies need to take a hard stand on pricing...

that'll never happen cause the more places charge for stuff they "need" the more tax money the government gets right? considering how wasteful our government is with money they need all the money they can get...

and we suffer because of it... like you figure we work 6 months of the year just to pay taxes... then you work another 3 months to pay for your car insurance... whats left? 3 months to pay for living expenses... **** that... it'll never change... our government is no better then the american government... while the americans may kill thousands of inoocent people our governent takes on its own people in a sneaky way that nobody notices... and when they do (adscam) the governemnt wastes more money to investigate it... then call of the investigation half way through cause its almost election time....

if the liberals win this election it will only show how dumb the majority of canada really is...

democracy isn't freedom... it picking who your ruler is from a lackluster selection... why can't the people rule?

Well if the people rule, realistically, only things that help "the people" would survive, and everything else that is not seen to the immediate eye, would be eleminated ... Although I do agree that there is such a thing as too much government ...

why not have the people vote on national policy though? rather then the wealthy elite voting based on personal interest? in our day and age i think the reality of freedom is impossible... we might be free from war but we aren't free... not by a long shot

People do vote on national policy, by selecting a candidate for a party whom they believe is most in line with there views, and who will do the best job in running the country ... If we had to hold a national "opinion" vote for every topic that comes up, nothing would get done ... I mean, The NDP, Liberals and Conservatives best represent the majority of how Canada's multicultural nation thinks, acts and works ... There not perfect, but what system is?

what about me then? none of the elected officials are in line with my views...

but also if passing a law takes a lot of effort then all those stupid ones wouldn't get past... only laws that are truley needed would be given the time... they could worksomething out with internet voting too... so it wouldn't be that bad... just give like a 12 hour window to vote... i'd rather them try that then waste a billion dollar on a gun regestry that has done nothing for our safety cause the only people who would actually sign up for it are the ones you dont have to worry about... its all the thugs running around with concealed weapons that dont regester that should be looked at... but how can a government justify this program?

Well, the internet voting thing sounds like an idea, and has been used in the the recent Conservatitve leader vote... as long as there registered, I have no problem, but then you are discriminating against those who don't own a computer, and it opens up a door where tampering could occur ..Listen, I'm not saying your comments and suggestions are way out there, there are certainly "do-able" but need some tweeking and correction ... No party is perfect, in any society, but the majority rules, and for now, thats what we have to work with ... I would say I am a Liberal, but the Liberal party doesn't hold all the same views I do, especially when it comes to spending and program deligaton ... But, if you were to ask me now who I would vote for, Paul Martin is as good as it gets for me ...
