5kph over speeding ticket wtf!!!

has anyone ever gotten one of these? going 65 in a 60km/h downhill on steeles... what da heck man... thats friggen gay :mad2:

Rice Burner 07-Jan-2008 04:46 PM

take it to court, it should get thrown out based on waste of tax payers time and money. Court fees are more than the ticket, the cop more then likely will not show. I had and the cop got some serious words from the judge.

JayDee M 07-Jan-2008 05:17 PM

i got booked doing 72 in a 50 but the cop was cool enough to reduce it to 55 in a 50.
5km/h over the limit is only a $28 fine with NO points,so i ended up paying the ticket on-line the next day, a couple weeks later i get a cheque from the city for $28 because the cop didnt even bother putting it through

jj2ii3344 07-Jan-2008 05:43 PM

LMAO, I had the exact same ticket this morning - 5 over speed limit.

Team Rukus 07-Jan-2008 06:08 PM

you sure it wasnt dropped to 5 over? there is a huge difference.

J-SKI 07-Jan-2008 06:25 PM

I'm thinking the cop dropped it to 5 over cause it won't stand in court. total waste of time. take it to court for sure, slim chance he'll show.

i was going downhill:Cry::Cry::Cry: and it was a pretty steep hill to for Toronto.. the on steeles and leslie

Nova_Dust 09-Jan-2008 09:56 AM

I would say pay the fine because it is such a small amount to begin with, regardless if the police shows or not. To waste a day in court for 28 dollars is not economical wise to begin with.

Bad luck or not, 5 over is still 5 over. Some spots are more prune to be caught than others. I wouldn't bother with court unless demerit points are involved.

I will tell you right now, that area you got caught is notorious for speed traps. Same as John Street around that area.

You have to be careful when you are driving in area's that are 60 k or less. They are pretty unforgiving.

Take it to court, have your day, you win, great, you lose, pay up. I am sure the fine isn't that big being 5 over.

jj2ii3344 09-Jan-2008 04:47 PM

I do, of course, plan to pay for my ticket; after all, any speed above the stated maximum unit, regardless of the exact value, is ground for a ticket. I merely made my presence here to show that the chance of getting a 5 over ticket might not be as slim it seems :)

Pyro 09-Jan-2008 06:03 PM

i'd take it to court so that even if i lost at least i'd be making good use of my tax money =)

shlammed 09-Jan-2008 08:03 PM

waste of time and money to take it to court

how much can a 5km over ticket possibly affect your insurance?

Sirberner 09-Jan-2008 08:12 PM

I put a voodoo curses on that cop 4 you!http://www.toyvault.com/nightmares/V...0-%20Large.jpg

that would be subjective to whether i had time to waste (i do) and if i was losing out on money, and since my income is 0 it's worth it for me to go to court at least that way both of us are losing money =)

besides, i've been told insurance looks at the number of lines on your insurance rather than what the line says about the infraction. but if someone could clarify that for me, that'd be great.

shlammed 09-Jan-2008 08:27 PM

insurance companies have under writers for a reason
