My friend just got booked for doing 50 over. They suspended his license and impounded his car for 7 days. He now has to go to court any chance of lowering the fine under 2 g's?

It's 2 minimum and could go as high as 10 with all kinds of fees.

Xscorpio 10-Nov-2007 06:37 PM

:dito: thats what they say, if someone will try to fight it, they will be prosecuted to even larger fine.

Set fine, 2000 up, 75 a day for his car legal help 1500, priceless........

I know the towing company we deal with, it's $60 a day impound charge., plus the $180 tow bill.

P.S. Your friend got what he deserves.

Wonderful, now that we've established the fact that his friend was brilliant, let's get back to his question.

There isn't a set fine until prosecuted I believe. As far as getting a fine lower than 2 g's, I'm not sure. To be honest, I haven't personally known anyone who has had this new regulation enforced upon. I've heard friends of friends getting into this situation but, nothing first hand. Plus, ya gotta understand this regulation is relatively new. As far as I know, those that have had this regulation practiced upon, haven't even gotten a court date yet. So, I'm not sure anyone here can help you answer your question. Personally, I wouldn't contest just accept it and beg the judge for leaneintcy(sp?). Afterall, the regulation is really new and it can go up or down....it's a hard call.

Spoke to lawyers that I know as well as xcoppers for him and they said chances of getting a price lower than 2g's in very SLIMMMM and they throw the book at everyone and btw it was a court summons straight away.

In short xcopper said he's ****ed in every aspect.

Im going to govern my car to 130 :lie:

wow... well with it being a new law, I would think that they want to set an example, and they'll hit him as hard as they can.
With this new law it's, and many others, you're guilty until proven innocent..

07Ex 16-Nov-2007 02:32 PM

I agree with what was said above. He got what he deserves.

zyepher 17-Nov-2007 07:24 PM

While I can't help...

I'd suggest he look at fighting his own speeding ticket ...

http://www.magma.ca/~fyst/

and follow all the steps... maybe he can get off on a technicality.

By the way I'd love to see his court case in court I've been wanting to see this law put through the court system.

zyepher 19-Nov-2007 11:08 PM
