407 payments (updated)

Yup, gotta pay it. The fact that they were sending it to my old address is my problem. According to them, it is up to me to inform them of any changes to my address. The interest and late fees are my problem. I am officially boycotting the 407.
Does anyone know if you have to pay your 407 charges before you renew your stickers. I have heard yes and no. The 407 is privately owned, no? So how can it affect your licence with the MTO. Thx.Mike

I'm sure they work closely with the MTO, it's not exactly like driving down your friends driveway.

I am quite sure you have to pay, even though it's privately owned...the government gets some money outta it right? And we all know that THEY want their money.

Yes, unpaid 407 bills will prevent you from renewing your plates/license.

Only 6 or 7 actually. Its that damn 300% they charge you. The bills were all being sent to my old address, eventhough I changed it with the MTO. And they wonder why no one uses the 407.

If the bills were sent to your old address after you had changed you mailing address with the MTO, you can try and fight any late charges.....well maybe get them lowered. Ya never know

On the back of the invoice it has something along the lines of you contacting them with your change of address within a couple of days. of moving. I guess they don't pay attention to the MTO info.

either they say no, and you pay the bill
or they say yes, and your charges are reduced.

Would you like a picture of traffic conditions on weekdays?

i dont know if it actually works but if your on the on ramp try driving on the shoulder or in the center (if its a two lane on ramp) and from what i hear it only catches 1/2 the plates so u dont get charged for it, or just get a transponder, cheaper that way.

Hahaha.. that's like the line of the day i think. 407 is as busy if not moreso at the major crossings during rush hours (410, 427, 400)

According to this , they have the right to do it, but have "suspended" themselves from being collections agents.

BTW, as of Feb 1st, the toll is increased to 12.95 cents/km, for peak times. Thank goodness for snow! (If you know what I mean )

as far a i know anything outstanding owing on your name, will prevent you from renewing your liscense. i do agree on how much they charge everyone who uses it.

I hate the 407. Refuse to use it! They mailed a bill to my mother say she owed them $20 something. Funny thing is my mother doesn't use highway's and has no need for them. They re-mailed it slightly higher, and again we called and complained. We finally asked for the photo and they couldn't come up with it! Then I demanded a letter of apology!
