3 point ticket

so the other night i was driving in hamilton and i turned right on upper gage onto rymal around 10 oclock night time with out stoping, it was a red light i just like slowed down and turned, and i guess a cop saw it and stoped me and gave me a 180 dollar ticket, i paid it off and stuff. Today i get a paper in the mail saying that ticket gave me 3 demerit points, although the cop didnt say anything about points and i already paid the ticket and now i cant fight it.
k so the 2 questions are:
1. can i do anything about it?
2. the insurance is under my dads and i have nothing to do with the policy, will they know or make it higher?

the cop doesnt have to disclose points to you...say hello to the premium hike next renewal

maybe next time you will stop at redlights regardless if you are turning or not and secondly read over your tickets and act accordingly

^^^he has got it right. Any moving violations will cost you points. Therefore you should always fight your tickets!

although what matt said is absolutely right but in reality...we dont always follow all the laws on the road....it was just unfortunate in your case but why the **** did you go and paid the fine assuming there there will be no points.

secondly..what do you mean when you say you dont have to do anything with the poilcy? if you are a secondry driver, you are on the plan

well the ticket follows the driver not the car...so it will affect your policy on your car not your dad's policy...even though you werent driving your car that ticket is gonna follow you and affect how much you pay to insure your car...

...the ticket is paid and processed, its done and over with now

You can see the jusitce of peace and get it overturned so you can go to court and properly fight it. A situation happened to me that was made ****ed up and the gave me a court date without any notification.

regarding the 2 years... that just applies to the demerit points... i wouldnt worry too much as you said that your not on the policy. It wont affect your dads policy as someone sd, the ticket follows the driver.

BUTTTTT, take this as food for thought man, legally if your license is registered at the same address as your father, and you drive the car at all, you must be listed on the policy as at least an occasional driver. If anything happens like an accident, your dads insurance WILL get cancelled and it will be black mark for quite some time on his CGI report. Now if your license shows a different address than your fathers, then that sorta gets you around, but still you run a risk.

if you're worried about how long this ticket will stay with you in terms of insurance affect on a vehicle on which you are listed on the policy, that is actually 3 years from the date of conviction.

Lets say in 2.5 years you get a car with your own insurance policy with you as primary, this ticket will definitely affect your rates.
