a no ticket offence is considered a huge problem
make sure you talk to many traffic lawyers about this one

um... from what i gather the speed was 80 and you 'slowed' to 122... that's already 42 over... lol first off getting some better driving habits might be in order, then calling pointts or x-copper would be the second point of business...

getting a court date and no ticket is pretty serious... pray for your insurance...

If you are 50 over, I'm pretty sure it's automatic court. I was also told that it's close to a grand for the fine. (No wonder he never posted that on the ticket; didn't want to see you cry)

ya man anything over 50 kms over the limit is considered a felony no? hope to hell you dont have that on your driving record when this is all done though... your pretty much not driving for 3 years if it stays on

getting caught doing like 20 over in a radar trap is normal... it'll probably get dropped to 10 over and your on your way with a $40 ticket... i would know since i know have 3 of those sexy ****ers screwing with my insurance rates....

but getting caught doing 62 over is a little rediculous dont you think? passing or not

isn't double the speed limit (62 over in a 60 zone) considered reckless driving charge??

It can be considered many things; hence being noticed to court.

So the guy you were following sped up from 80 to 100 in the 80 zone, which seems reasonable even if a little over the limit, then slows down to 70 as he approaches the 60 zone, and then slows down some more to 60 as he hits the 60 zone, and THEN you decide to pass him because he's going too slow?

That's some impeccable timing you have there.

The set rate for speeding 50+ km over the limit is $9.75 per km over the limit, PLUS a hefty victim surcharge. You will face a instant license suspension of up to 30 days strictly as a result of the conviction for 50+ over the limit.

You will also gain 6 demerit points, which means you may be summoned by the MoT to explain why you shouldn't have your license suspended even on top of the potential 30 day suspension for the ticket.

You will enjoy at least a 50% hike in insurance rates assuming you have no other tickets on record. If you have other tickets on record, look for your insurance rates to double.

Just out of curiousity, just how many seconds would that burst of speed have saved you had there not been radar? And how long did you end up sitting on the side of the road while they wrote out your ticket because there was radar?

Was the penalty risk vs time reward ratio worth it?

ok but you said that you 'slowed down to 122' and then the cop got you at 122 in a 60... so even if the limit hadn't changed u would have slowed down to 122 in an 80... so assuming u slowed down 8 km/h in those few seconds (very easily done) u were going 50 over what u thought was the limit (130 in an 80)...

i fail to see how going 50 over for any reason is evidence of a good driving habit..

look it was a safe and legal pass on the road it was not up a hill or around a corner it was in a designated passing zone i re entered the properlane before the doted line ended i was doing approximatly 130 while passing i seen the hill coming up so i took the precaution to make my pass extra safe and go faster i did nothing wrong except getting caught speeding !!!!!!!!! i passed legally the guy in front of me was doing 60 in the 80 zone and 60 in the 60 zone and all kinds of crazy speeds i didn't want to stick behind him!!!!!!!! pure and simple everyone passes people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it just happened i was at the wrong place the wrong time and really didn't notice the 60KMPH begins sign

TO : Motti thanks for the heads up and also i hope this answers some unclear questions over my recent traffic related offence !!!

LOL i think he'z simply explaining......he doesn't pass on up comming hills, or corners...cause cops like to set up on those, to make sure ppl don't see them....

Burn because...look at what u'll be hit with for doing that....

given u had no intent to hurt anyone. and ur intentions were good.

But like it'z been said....it'z never worth speeding under normal driving conditions......it'z gonna get u know where or passing ppl, cause ur just gonna end up hitting the same traffic lights as that person........and he'z just gonna be right beside you or behind you.....

it'z alright though, everyone makes mistakes, that'z how u learn, i'm sure u won't pass someone at high speeds again. or at least u'll think twice before doing it.
