I agree. That is a big ticket to defend.
If you went on it alone and talked to the crown it will prolly only get the fine dropped to a lower amount.... they will be really gunning to make the points stick.

Best of luck with the defence

Isn't 60 over like a criminal offence? Like DUI? Meaning you get fingerprinted and a criminal record is started on you (if you don't already have one)

Plus it's a one year licence suspension (I think) and isn't more like a $3000 fine?

How in the world did you get caught doing 120 in a 60 zone, did you totally miss the cop or were you really doing 160 and started braking and got caught at 120?

Man this is rough, DO not go it alone.

NO! You thinking about wrekless driving. Lets say your doing 270 on the 407, then your arrested and thats criminal but not 60 over.

Yea I thought the rule was 50 over the limit... and it's an immediate criminal offence...

50 over and you get a summons to go to court
max fine is upto $5000 if convicted and a lic. suspension of upto 1 year

you were doing double the limit, for your own interest, call a goooooood lawyer! they will not have any sympathy if you decide to take this on your own...

You're pretty screwed.

If you hire someone to fight it.
you're looking around $500-$1000 depending who you get.
plus whatever fines you'll have to pay. ($800)
Liscence suspension will cost you another $100 to register,

and if you have a clean record, maybe another 300% increase in insurance payments.

Ya, you're pretty screwed.

That's funny, like the Simpson episode where they show Homer's heart rate while hes in the hospital...

I hope I never get myself into a mess like this. Too much of a hassle, find a lawyer, go to court, man I have little free time as it is let alone fill it with court dates...

I'm going into the garage right now and pitting a brick behind my gas pedal.

Actually i believe your wrong on this one.
If your going twice the speed of the stated maximum then your automatically charged with a felony or criminal offence.

Cuz its serious

Dude the really really sucks, flying through to chase a red light is serious! That's where a lot of needless bad accidents happen, I'm not so sure they'll be lienient on that issue alone, add in the fact that you have outstanding traffic violations and previous convicions? You can be sure the cop and the crown are going to bring that up..

Dude that sucks... You'll be really lucky if they let you drive in a year not to mention the fines. I had a friend from LA that got his lic pulled, his civic is sitting in his garage.

I get a speeding ticket and I drive slow of 3 months... but I'm sure you don't need this from me, dude I feel for you...

I just like to thank you for sharing you experience though, then I (and i imagine others here) can also learn from your mistakes.

I know one thing, I'm going to think twice before I drop the hammer. I need to hear stories like this to keep me from going crazy...
