Interchangable Parts?

Hey Guys,

Somebody is willing to give me their suspension. Its off of a 95 Civic. Suspension is Koni ( I believe yellow) struts with OEM honda struts. From the best of my understanding I believe its the 96 and up that become interrchangable. Correct? I own a 2000 SI and am wondering if anyone knows if the setup will fit. All advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

i personally dont think so man...its a totally different body style with different suspension n yes its 96-00 that may be interchangable ...so the set up will not work if its 95

If i remember correctly, EK lower control arms are thinner therefore you will need washers to fill in the gaps on the rear lower control arms. the fronts will fit properly.

I assume you mean koni yellow damper inserts in oem strut/damper housings?

So they combined koni yellow dampers with oem springs?

Might not be the best combo. It's possible that even on the softest setting, those konis will be too stiff and not a proper match for the oem springs. This can result in an overdamped setup which can cause the suspension to 'ratchet down' (springs cannot over come the resistance of the dampers and do not rebound enough while compressing/retracting over bumps), giving a very bumpy feel and unstable handling.

What is your reasoning behind installing this setup? With oem springs, it will still sit at stock ride height...

Do you want better handling?

i think we all understood the question nonethe less. Scrid3r is %100 percent right. I had a 94 hatch with koni yellows and sold them to a friend after i sold the car. 96-00 civics have thinner lca's therefore you need washers, i would just suggest to get new ones if you plan on tracking it or anything. you would want the proper fit i would think. the fronts are a perfect fitment though. good luck

^After getting his suspension home and removing mine, I discovered the rear LCA's are different. The LCA's on our ek coupes are much longer than the eg/teg LCA's and the way the shock bolts to the LCA is also different. So they will not work. The fronts I believe will bolt up.

I've decided to hang on to that suspension for when I pick up an eg hatch in the future.

The front will bolt up. If you want EG suspension on the rear, as mentioned above, you will need washers to make the strut sit against the lca bushing properly.
