Suspension Instalation help!!!!

OK! So last saturday I went to install my suspension myself and I ran into a problem. The front suspension went on fine no problems..literally took 30 minutes not even.

When I got to the back...there is no way in hell these bolts were coming off. I used heat and got the nuts off a couple...but the bolts are ceased to the bushings and will not come out.

So here is where I stand. I bought all new bushings and bolts...took my car to shop of friends of the family...and they still cant get em off (I felt i had no other option). Now what do I do?? Should I buy new lower control arms?? Or is there some other method of getting my old suspension off and new one on without having to spend more money? Any suggestions?

p.s - the new suspension is a full coilover suspension so I don't give a damn about my old shock/struts. Oh and its a 93 dx if that helps...

Thanks!

If you have new bolts/bushings, just torch the bolt off flush, then use an air chisle to bang the rest of the bolt out, then just use the air chisle to bang the bushing out....insert the new bushing with a socket the same size and a hammer....

or

if you want to give this method a try (doubt it will work, didnt for me) heat the head of the bolt up till it goes cherry red, have someone with a spray bottle with water or a hose and spray it down too cool it off....this causes contractions due to temperature change and sometimes it will free the bolt in the bushing....

Good luck

just ****ing torch the end off and air hammer it out. Note the length the bushing is in the arm, then hammer the new one in

i have H&R Race w/ my stock SiR struts and i used to have Eibach Sportlines

the h&rs are sooooo much better...they are a stiffer ride for cornering but yet feel so much nicer over bumps

i'd suggest the H&R race also because it gives it a lower more agressive stance than the Eibach Pro

my H & R sports are a little rough but its definitely tollerable
any lower and I would fecking hate slowing down for everything and the camber kit BS
it didn't make sense to me because I am not seriously racing the pig every week.

they are a progressive spring and are a little soft until they are compressed or enough force is put on it it just holds.

i have been running h&r race for almost 2 years on agxs and they handle... nice and firm, but its really low and the ride is going to be bumpy. you have no way around it, you've just lost nearly 50% of the shock travel when you go that low.

Omni Or Pic

so im thinkin about getting a new suspension, my car rides kinda rough from the shocks, so im lookin for something that will make it run nicely.

which is better the full omni coilover or the PIC. ii see PIC is cheaper from *****tic.

but what do u guys think? i heard alot of good stuff about the PIC and not soo goods about omni.

these two have been compared tons and tons of times before....search the performance section...you will see many threads on the exact same topic.

There probably made in the same plant and if not at least in the same city in western China!!! lol
In other words there quality is relatively the same in my opinion. If you want a nice ride why dont you go with some good shocks like illuminas or something and go with a spring like H & R's or something. Do your research on the spring rates (there was a thread just like this last week and had spring rates in it) It will probably be a little cheaper and if you dont need the adjustability than I think there is no point in getting those and if you did want them for reason such as the track, you might want to think about spending more money because in most cases you get what you pay for!!

Question suspension question/confusion

Hi, sorry if this is a newb question but I really don't know much in the suspension area.

I recently purchased tein s-techs springs/tokico blue shocks for my civic and wanted to get them installed. Alot of ppl told me it should be around $100-150 to install the shocks + springs at most shops so I called around and they are telling me I have to change the lca or the bushings too. I was wondering if that is true?? If so all shops I called didnt carry them, so any input on where I can find them/price would be much appreciated...thx alot

ULTIMATE SUSPENSION plan

As I have posted b4, I bought 96 lx auto.

Before I do an engine swap, I want to improve my suspension!

Im willing to spend $2000!

Firstly, Im looking for plan that handles amazing, heightens the vehicle and softens my suspension,

When I go over bumps its very hard..

I know this plan might be overkill for now but Im saving up for a K series engine.

Should I go with coilovers??

any ideas??

Thanx

Reds aren't adjustable. Yellows are.

This thread should help you :

You may also want to consider what type of driving you do, on the track, daily driving, etc.

If you want the ultimate suspension, 1 spring + 1 shock + oil reservoir will be close and more than $2000 dollars.

You really can't put a price tag on modifications because you will always go over it. You go cheap on the first round and you will regret after, and money is wasted on the first time. Unless you attend track/solo event religiously, suspension work really, is nothing but lower your car a few inches so it looks nice. Nothing more, nothing less.

You are better off saving for a swap so you can get more power for your car and enjoy the speed. A car can go fast in a straight line a lot easier than to make it corner extremely well. The formula for suspension work is very complicated where a swap work is vastly available in a matter of a phone call.

Most people who are crazy about handling don't care about speed at all.
