Like I started writing on the other site, they are some of the finest shocks you can buy.
The great thing about Bilsteins is that they are built as Monotubes. Pretty much all one piece race coilovers are built to this standard as it offers several advantages. It's not a common feature to find in a stand alone shock however. Most are offered as twin tubes.
Bilsteins are built like tanks, and have been used in all sorts of motorsports. They are about as quality as it gets.
They are not damping adjustable, though they can be modified to fit external reservoirs. Not that you really need damping adjustability if you get it right the first time.
On the other site you asked what springs would go well with Bilstein shocks. I personally find standard Integra Ground Control rates go very well with the Bilstein HD shocks.
If you are thinking of going with Bilstein Sport, that's a bit of another story. They use rather high levels of damping resistance and would require hefty spring rates which might not be tolerable on the streets, nor even all that safe. You could couple them with softer springs, but then your just resulting in an overdamped system, and you better of saving your money and buying the Bilstein HD.
Just to let you know, all Bilstein shocks are virtually identical inside. This means if you purchase the Bilstein HD, it can easily be transformed into the Sport valving should you require it down the road. Bilsteins are fully rebuildable and servicable, and generally at a better price then Koni's.
Hope this helps.
