To anyone who can help:
I have a 2001 2-dr Civic Si-G with 125,000 km, which I totally baby and really love. Except for one thing: the suspension is ridiculously hard/bad!!!! I've never felt any other year of Honda Civic with a suspension like mine. I hit a small bump and everything in the car's interior rattles! I hear it's a design flaw, with many people going to the dealer repeatedly! I have the extd. warranty until May '08 or 160,000 km.

If I go to Honda, will they change the susp. system to another which will again break, or have they fixed the problem once and for all. Even so, with my warranty running out soon, I don't want to be stuck with a damned car.

Should I go aftermarket? Will this fix the problem or am I stuck?

PLEASE, any help and info (about the flaw and the dealer) would be appreciated!

i have an 05 civic...i was surprised when i got it that the suspension was a lil on a stiff side. that's just the way it is regarding your suspension. dealer would not changed your suspension for a new one for that reason...about the rattles inside - even if you change your shocks/springs it is still gonna rattle.

Thanks for the reply. I find this a bit strange though... My buddy has an '05 special edition (basically a base model with a few options selected) and his suspension is incredible, not hard or too soft, just perfect.

there is a flaw in the design of the front suspension for 2001-03 civics, basically your shocks are gonna blow prematurely (from my experience, and couple of other buddies who have the same year civic) there was a recall done by honda for 2001-03 civics and ELs, i dont know how they fix the problem seeing as how i bought the car used and was out of warranty, this problem does not affect 04-05 models supposedly

if you complain long and hard enough to the right people, they should rectify the problem. my guess is you have blown shocks and they *may* replace them for you and it'll solve your issues. the ride on these cars isn't bad by nature, Civics are economy consumer vehicles, not race cars. they're designed for comfort, safety, economy, and low price... no one would ever own a civic if they had a really harsh ride by design.
