Mine was a Pentax S230 2.0MP that i bought for $450 back in the summer of 2002 from futureshop. So tell us what was your first digi and how did you get it / or how much you paid for it?

Mine was a FujiFilm E900 9MP that I bought last year for about ~$600. It's the same camera I am using to this day and it is doing a fantastic job. Being a Fuji camera it has very low grain, it has a full manual mode which gives me great control, and it supports RAW as well which I love to dabble with.

I used to use the Analog SLR's, so maybe one day I will buy a full DSLR, but so far this compact 9MP E900 has been able to hang with the big dogs, and I am happy with its results.

canon s3 is, bought it back in dec/06 for roughly $450-$500. that was the first time i'd ever thought about getting into photography, still trying to sell it too. upgraded to my 20d in july, and haven't been able to put my camera down since. trying to learn as much as possible from self taught

canon a-series powershot cameras are a mixed bag of beans....but overall they offer decent value but the ones that really shine are the image stabilized ones. a560 i believe doesnt have an image stabilizer in it (the a570 does and is marginally expensive...you had a chance to look at it or no). im stressing the IS feature cuz its works and really helps you to take stable and clear shots...however this feature is electronic and not mechanical like in an SLR camera.

I am using a Canon A710IS from last year and it rocks.

what manual settings you are struggling with? AV, TV????
