Road trip to Miami in my Civic
9 Attachment(s)
Just thought I'd share some pics of my lil road trip from Toronto to Miami, Florida. Lots of ppl ask me how long it took and how far it is so I'll throw that info in too.
Car: 2000 Civic Si w/198,000 Km's Motor/Tranny: B18C1 w/Approx 120,000 Km's - To protect the front end from stone chips I used multiple layers of painters tape and then a layer of duct tape to avoid damaging the clear coat and paint etc etc... -Basically, I drove to the Detroit/London border and continued on the I75 South the entire way. You can also take the I 95 South but there aren't as many stop areas and it's less of a sceanic route... -The Trip took me two days because I stopped over night in Kentucky after the 1st day of driving. -Approx 24-25 hrs in total driving time -Gas cost approx $300-350 for one way. The night before I left. All taped up n ready to go. Attachment 31235 Pit-stop in Tennessee (Tape survived lots of rain) Attachment 31236 Attachment 31237 Midway during the trip I hit that dreaded 200,000 KM milestone :| Attachment 31238 Arrived at my uncles house n had to wash her off. The weather was hot! Attachment 31239 Drove down to the intercoastal n caught a shot before sunset Attachment 31240 Chillin at the beach, the water was pretty choppy that day... That's sick. Kinda ghetto taping up the hood but as long as it worked.
|
^^ gotta protect the investment... I would have found a "Bra" instead tho :P
|
To be honest, I researched a few methods of protecting the front end and everyone that had a bra said after a long drive, the vibration from the engine creates alot of friction between the bra material and the paint causing a sandpaper effect on the clear coat. The tape cost me $10 in total and did the trick without a single spot of damage.. I didn't mind looking ghetto during the drive... Once I didn't look ghetto in Miami lol

ummm in the picture where it says u reached the 200,000 km thing it says ur in park but ur doing 160 lol
|
^^ he uses the force to push him.
Its either that or he converted to manual when he did that b18c1 swap... But most likely the first thing. |
^^^ lol... I did an auto to 5spd conversion but I'm waiting for a deal on an sir cluster... You gotta have the park gear activated in order to start the car. Naw mean son?! Everyone that rides in my car down in Florida don't realize my speedo reads KMph's n they're like, "wtf? We're doin 160MPH?" I tell the girls yes... yes we are ;) haha
|
Lol you were doing 160, were you in 5th gear when it was reading 5000RPM?
|
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I was in 5th... I stayed in 5th for maybe 98% of the trip
|
looking good.
man.. i thought i was flush! what size are ur rims/tires and what is ur offset? and... ur drop. hahaha |
Thanks, I'm rollin on 18x8's all around +32 at the back n +40 up front. 215/35/18'z and the drop is ??? approx 3" - 3.5" all around... I think I can lower the offset to +32 up front and + 25 at the back with a lil trimming off the rear fender lip... What are you runnin?

Im on a supposed 1.75/1.5" drop, but so it's actually about 2" lower (if not more), i had to jack it up 0.5" f/r to stop the fronts from rubbing. I've rolled the front fenders all the way, so it hasnt rubbed at all since. My tires have slice marks from the fenderliner before i jacked it up and before the fender roll. wheel/tire 15x7 195 55 15 +37 my front was flush before the fender roll, now it's off by abit cause the roll pulled the fenders out quite a bit. |

These photos make me excited to return to to Daytona beach this march for the IASCA spring break nationals http://blog.sounddomain.com/gadget/s...eak_nationals/ , we did the road trip last year for the same show in my 2002 civic coupe and it was awesome. I will have to take some pics on the way like you did when I go this time.
