Question Questions about 02 Nissan XE

Was wondering if I should spend $5500 on a 01 Honda Civic LX or spend $4000 roughly on a 02 Nissan XE. I've been told that Nissan's generally arent too reliable, is that true? Also was wondering if I were to get a Nissan would the parts be a lot more expensive then what I can get for a Honda?

Can you guys give me some opinions of which car and specifically why? Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the opinion. I also found out that the 01 Honda Civic LX has 210 000 KM on the engine. Is it still worth the $5500? Other then that everything is pretty good and stock. Also would an engine swap cost me a bundle?

now its more clear why an 01 model is that cheap. thats alot of mileage if you ask me...but more depends what do you want the car for and what is the level of maintenance that is already done to the car.

not in every case you can find service records so u gotta know how reliable the seller is.

Buy the Nissan.

Nissan are much better, trust me, i own both Honda and Nissan, i have owned, EF, EG and just sold my EK with K20a in it, at the same time i got a deal on a 1994 sentra that cost me $1,500, and only had 130k it was legit, all the carfax and history was good, was owned by two families before both old people.I drove it hard through my shcool times, and i never sold it even after 5 years, it still runs great, in the 5 years all i changed was a new battery and thats it!!!!!!, only now will i change 4 new tires to it, and already did a cv joint, thats it in 5 years!!!!!!! on a old nissan.

Anyways, the way i drive, i can tell you go with the Nissan, all that you herd negative about Nissan is bull****, i was like you once, hesitant to get Nissan, but once i did, well today i own, a 350z brembo package, a maxima 2003 6spd, and a 1994 sentra< its like the old school cars that you can build, and my sis and mom have honda's yuck they suck compared to Nissan.

Don't get me wrong, if you can afford to buy new, go with Honda, their new cars are awsome, but if you are buying used, and looking for a good deal, go with Nissan.

Buddy civics/Honda are over priced, eveyone says their parts are cheap, but if you had any industrial knowledge you would find out that Honda has the most expensive parts out of all japanese cars.

i got my cv joint changed for my 1994 sentra with labour for $90, and when i had my EK few months ago, it cost $160.Even insurance is more expensive for honda especially civics.

I'm telling you SAVE your money, for the same $5500 you will spend on a 2001 LX with 210k, you can get a sexy 2004 black manual or auto sentra 1.8S, with 60k which is faster and better, my brother just bought a 2004 sentra 1.8S manual, for $6,000 with ONLY 41k's, he was lucky though. You could get the same deal but with maby higher milage like 70k, but just go check autotrader and see for yourself.

Go for nissan you will love it trust me, im a Honda guy who owned every kind of hatch civic and B16,B18 turbo and K20 honda.

You will save money going with Nissan.

This is what you were looking for right!!! someone with experiance, well i have experiance with both, my mian point is this here, that for the money you have or even if you were spending 20k, if you are buying used, go for Nissan, Hondas are only worth buying brand new, if you buy them used you will still pay high price, because honda holds its value really well, it would make sense if you bought a civic brand new, because you would sell it for alot when you are done with it, but if you want to buy used you are looking for low milage and newer model, and honda wont do that for you. Even Nissan holds its value.

No problem, i'm just telling the truth from my experiance.

I love Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, but i also know whats a good deal and whats not.

Right now my (2nd)sister is fighting my parents, because she wants a Honda, as she will be paying her self, everyone in the family is saying go with Nissan, but she just wants Honda, because i had honda's all sooped up and she saw that and eversince she wants one.

But now since my brother got his sentra, she is starting to change her mind, she was amazed that he got such a low km car for only 6k, now she's looking into Nissan.lol

All these three cars are good, really, but some out weight the other, because of what we are looking for.

I would buy another Honda brand new, but i'll prob look if a nissan can sell it self to me first, because $$$.

But, its your choice and you are buying it, what ever it is i wish you the best, and hope that car makes you happy.hehehe.

For further information go to www.***************** ask anyone there questions you have regarding the Nissan, and compare, if you want.

good luck.

Nissans on the average are great cars, parts as less expensive (dealer prices) then honda, but it lacks the aftermarket support of honda and resale value plumets fast on most cars. Its well designed, but materials, and mexican built quality shows. Ergonomics are not really on par with Honda.

plus if the 01 honda is automatic its bound to have transmission problems one day.
there was some kind of defect, i either caught the bad luck out of thousands of people who own that years model. and it was not under the manufatures warentee so it came out of my own pocket.

so 1 thing to keep in mind 01 automatic tranny will go eventually.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, no nissans don't burn oil.

that is the reason why i shifted to nissan, because Honda's burn oil not nissans.

i have never herd of a nissan owner complaining about any burning oil or leaking, that belongs to honda civics, dont' put it on nissans, nissans are known for the tranny problems, and nothing in the engine bay, trust me i have owned enough old/new honda and nissans, i like older cars though, much more fun,and realistic to drive. And from experiance now, i would buy honda new and nissan used.
