hello to all members of TCC, hope your cars are running supreme, and projects are coming along well, anyway i have a 93 si hatch got talked into buying it back in october by my borther and i'm glad because it's the best car i've owned ever and the slight body mods that were done to the car i beleive make it unique.. on another note i was wondering if there is anyone here that can help me figure out why my D16Z6 does not have a V-tec valve cover? i've been talking to all my honda friends in my area and they all say it's non-vtec but the specs say that it is vtec, if there is anyone the can shed some light on my dilemma it will be appreciated thank you and thanks to TCC members for having such beautiful rides...

welcome to the forums, surff around, ask questions make yourself familiar with the site, there is tones of info here and many people to help you out with your questions.
BTW: D16Z6 engine is a VTEC engine. there should be a vtec solenoid on the top, something like this:

You can always check out search function on the top right for more info.
Can you hear the v tec kick in??? ... Your civic should have a v tec , unless it is not a si or maybe the previous owner blew the engine and put in a non v tec engine (or head)..

and to answer your question, look for a vtec soleniod as posted above, it should be near the dizzy (top left corner of the engine if your looking at it from the bumper) and it will be between the throttle body/intake and the valve cover. aslo the previous owner could have changed the valve cover because most d-series covers are interchangable, and if i am correct i believe that some vtec engines did not have "vtec" written on it. i know my d16y8 which is a vtec motor does not have a vtev valve cover because not all of them come with one (a rare occurance) so often people get the d16y7 and d16y8 mixed up even though the throttle bodies are totaly different)
