My First Car

What's going on?

I'm 23 years young and bought my first car today. 2002 Honda Civic DX (Midnight Blue) with 117,700 kms on it. These last three weeks I've looked at a lot of cars and most turned out to be rusted, beat up, or sold by people I don't trust. There have been a lot of Civics in my family, including own my cousin owned with upwards of 700,000 kms. There are a lot of these on the roads and for a damn good reason.

I didn't even have much time to sit in it today because I paid the man roughly 30 minutes before I was supposed to be at work. It was test driven and checked out for a while, but I didn't get to take any pictures (aside from one on my iPhone), wash it, or pull into my own driveway with it.

This car has virtually no rust I can see. I'm sure there is some forming somewhere considering the age, but it looks pretty good. There are no dents or major flaws aside from a few scratches here and there, but it's nothing I can't touch up.

I guess that's all I can say about it for now. I'll post some pictures tomorrow morning when I wake up. Since it has such low mileage and it's a Civic, I guess I'll be around here for a while.

Hello, everyone! Thanks for the welcome.

I'm sure I'll run into a problem or two by 200,000, but luckily I have a mechanic in the family who is obsessed with Civics. If I need anything replaced/repaired, I can probably get it done for cheap (or free if I buy him some beers).

I know in the next few months I'll be due for a timing belt change.

Yes, you are due for a timing belt soon at that mileage. I'm a mechanic. I've seen people neglect the timing belt, and I have seen them break at around that mileage. I've recommended an engine afterwards. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be cheap.

I'll probably be taking it into Yuille's soon just for a quick inspection of it. I'll either have them or my cousin change it.

I don't really intend on making too many modifications to this car. It definitely won't be a ricer. Tires, wheels, deck, headlights, tail lights, rotors and pads, and a K&N air filter for the stock airbox. That's really it. Might do a Magnaflow exhaust as well as upgrade the rotors and pads, too. We'll see how things go, I guess.

Congrats on you're car man.

I've recently hit 130 xxx on my FG2 and had no issues other than regular maintenance.
