Cool Learning the ropes.

Hello everybody,

I'm Jorden. and this is my first forum I joined.

Alright what everybody probably wants to know, My car.. 2 years ago I bought this little civic on craigslist for pennies on the dollar. Dirt cheap.. And it sat parked for some time because it was literally a back-up. and well time came to finally take it out. drove it nice and hard for a few months before my timing belt stripped some teeth sitting idle at a traffic light. 16 teeth to be exact. and this is when I really got to learn about my car..

The engine was stamped D15B. and doing research I learned its Japanese.. Cool! So I tried to figure out which belt to buy. I then learned that they come in a wide variety of teeth. I think 113 count was original to the D15B. But I had to count mine to know. and I learn I only had 103... odd I thought.. But when I take my head off, I see Junkyard marking on the back of the head. (I took it off to change my gasket. I had a small leak.)

So I researched my head. and it turns out I have a zc single cam head. all of which is non vtec btw.

After changing my first timing belt I drove to clearwater as a nice test. about 110 miles 1 way. well, I Had my AC on.. (I know I still have AC?!) and I was pushing hard and I think in 3rd gear about 4-5k it did some weird bog, like i hit the rev limiter. and it freaked me out. Mostly because i was afraid i skipped. and it felt like i lost some power too (With AC off)..

The next day my friend hooks me up to the obd2 scanner and tells me my Cylinder position sensor isn't reading. And idk if there's any correlation, But my speedometer has recently started bouncing around when going heavy on the gas... I seen somewhere, that when the Cylinder Position sensor goes out, the ECU will ignore input from the o2 sensors and run rich by default. idk if there's any validity to that. but as a test we disconnected both o2 sensors in the exhaust and also unplugged the MAF and it did nothing what-so-ever. I just find it so strange as redundancy to throw out o2 data...

We did more digging and find out its (CYP) a part of the dizzy. But my dizzy is electric taped... every wire was twisted and taped... no unplug harness. so this leads me to believe the original owner wired in a OBD1 dizzy... Not sure if there's a reason if its because of the head or something...

But I would like to know if i should have OBD1or2 I believe 2 would be best. And out of curiosity what cam should be in this kind of setup and how would i know what cam i have.. and do you think the CYP would be the culprit of that bog under load?I know i wrote a lot.. But i understand the more information the better..

Thanks to anyone who read this and finds interest. any knowledge is welcome. And I'm brand new to the Honda game. But I learn very quick.
Jorden.
