Who's calling it quits after this season?

So with bill203, the heavy OPP blitz going on and the high amount of tickets being laid out this season, who's calling it quits and/or just going track-only?

I must say, I'm VERY tempted to do this next season. I am planning on going to europe next summer for the month of july and I must say.. it doesn't sound to tempting to cough up another $2500 for insurance (I'm under 25 and ride a 600cc) for only about 2 good months of doing the speed limit.

Anybody else feeling like calling it quits?

Now they FUK us over with this great new speeding law they invented!!

I was reading a thread on GTAM. And the poster got pulled over for doing 15km/h on his bike. The cop told the rider that he could get him for stunting because you 'revved' his bike when he downshifted. Apprently, the rider just downshifting a bit too aggressive. The cop told him, if he was a prick traffic cop he would of towed his bike away.

Things like this definately give me the creeps. I worked very hard to afford my bike and insurance, and to have it taken away because I downshift aggressive? Or revv my bike or something is idiotic. EVEN if you do get the ticket dropped, the license suspension still stays on your record for 3 years, and you still pay the tow and storage fees. It's a scary thought to think that you can have your vehicle/bike taken away because of a power tripping cop.

It truely is a shame man..

My insurance is up june 2nd I believe. I guess I'll make up my mind next May.. but it looks grim. Almost all of my riding buddies are calling it quits as well.

agreed... I am definitely thinking of selling my civic and going with one car... sharing with the wife and taking public transit it to work. Its easier, cheaper and lets be honest some people just kill this hobby... and some things like feuds between websites ... the hate the overall way it was went. Instead of people enjoying it, now its about hating on everyone. I could only imagine the problems that come with a bike as well.

Maybe its time to get a nice harley chris?

I'm not a cruiser kindof guy. I like to go very fast. And the whole time I'd be kicking myself while i'm on this big heavy mofo. Even though they are comfortable as hell and torquey.. but it's just not for me.

And yeah.. the overall scene just isn't what it used to be. Even if you are doing the limit, you have to worry about harrassment from cops. I got harrassed because my bike has no rear 'mudflap'.. wtf? Luckily I bit my tongue and played innocent and he let me off.

I definitely hear what you guys are saying, it's not worth the hassle anymore. I would however not mind picking up a Honda Ruckus, and you can always modify it, to bad its hard to come by in Canada.

chris_v2 10-Sep-2008 03:57 PM

lol..

I'd rather have my CBR. I was talking to a guy today who has a busa. He was saying that one of his buddies ran from the cops last week and they set up a road block for him (apprently he was going down a long straight).

Whatever happened to cops calling off the chase when the bike started to run :p haha
