Motorcycle exhaust brands

I have this little project in mind, modify my muffler using a bike slip on, easy to remove at the track.

Going through Ebay on some used cans, Micron, Akrapovic, Yoshimura, yadda yadda yadda....

I also came across some of the "stubby" ones, short and light. People talk about shortening the damaged long can into short stubby ones. Motorcycle shops do that? Is that a costly thing to do or?

Also wondering if a reduced pipe diameter can reduce some sound, i.e. 2.5" down to 52mm (2") with a stubby can, which has a 45mm exit diameter.

Thanks!

i cut down a dirtbike cr250 muff befor to fit a honda z50 lol it worked pretty good. i just drilled out the rivits pulled the tail pipe end cap out,cut the muff(tail pipe end) back to where i wanted it, while your in there you can replace the packing for pennies at any bike shop just ask for some packing for the pipe then reinstall the end cap and rivits. Pretty easy to do! we also do that to alot of dirtbikes dew to the long stockys, even the aftermarket are some times to long for freestyle! GetRdone. ive seen a civic with kirkers(streetbike pipe)on it lol didnt get to here it but looked sweet!

Hey Scott, long time no talk!!! Hope all is well.

I still do, I will give you a call later man. But in case I haven't got the chance, do you know the pipe diameter and length of the can?

Thanks man

Why not use a straight-through can muffler with one of those silencers you can install & remove?

probably not worth the labour/money to change a long exhuast to a shorty

i suggest using a straigh pipe as well

Part of the reason to use a moto exhaust is the fact that most have smaller inlet, and a small outlet. This is acting like a bolt on silencer, which is really a pipe reducer forcing the exhaust flowing from, say 2.5" out of a 1.5" or whatever the diameter is.

I just want something that has the look of a small exit diameter, as oppose to your typical 4" one, which is what I have right now.
