maybe 1000 a year .

Get your M2 via Motorcycle training/safety course. If you haven't had a traffic offense in last couple years, the safety course certificate counts as 1 year riding experience!!!
then almost any bike below 600cc will be cheap insurance. (i'm thinking $1500 range) Don't get the 125...that's one bike that can't get you out of a nasty situation if you need to. get minimum 250 ninja (or the CBR 250~400 if you could afford it). honestly, I'd just go get a 500 ninja or 600 older CBR i sold my 95 CBR with 32k a month ago for $2850 ride safe! |
You will get bored so fast...get a 500-600...

CBR 125 is great entry level bike but if you have riding experience id suggest get something a little bigger cc 125's is lucking power specially if your a bigger rider. Now that is riding season there is plenty of demo rides around try one on before you purchase one

I got a 125 4 weeks ago. Insurance is $58/mth, I'm 22. insurance company didn't even ask for my M license. Statefarm is the company, let me know if you need a contact.
I would recommend the 250. 125 is ok but you'll get bored FAST. |
the good thing about the 125 is the depriciation, like depending on how well you take care of your stuff you can almost get your money back out of it if you sell it within a couple years
|
Dont waste your money on a the 125.. get an older 500r or 250 of some sort. Plus if your going to RTI for the course you'll see how slow they are. You have to be full throttle all the time

Hey, I was in the same boat last year. I bought a 125 and was bored after a week. It did serve it's purpose as a learner's bike but if I could do it again I'd buy something that could be kept for more than a season. The Ninja 250 is also a good learners bike but it's overpriced. If you're gonna stay with a small cc bike get a 250. Otherwise, the GS500 is a good bike. It's cheap, forgiving and you can ride it for more than a season without getting bored.
Keep in mind the 125 is useless on the highway. I'm 170 lbs and it was a struggle to get that bike to 110km. Also a lot of them have a problem with 2nd gear. Now I have a CBR600RR and the wife has a Ninja 250. The 600 is way too much bike (gets me in trouble, pig on gas) and the 250 is way too little for me. I might end up in a retro CBR400 or something down the road. |
Ok so ppl say "it gets boring fast" is that because it dose or cause it wont break land speed records? Im not looking to "go fast" on highways. Just to get from point A to B and cruz around the city.

Can I sit on it and make "vvrroomm, vvrroomm" sounds when you get it??
|
BTW, that sounded wrong.. lol ^^
