The brain (and the body for that matter) are amazing machines. Mind blowing. Maybe people should just the body do its thing. Immune system is there for a reason... Might get sick for a week...

At work, I'm a Class A employee so I need to make it there not matter what. They're handing out 'Tamiflu' or Tamaflu antiviral incase there's a breakout... No thanks

It's something of a hot topic.
Many of those who are in favour of getting the flu shot are very strong in their opinions, and those against it are equally as determined and see it as a deathwish.

^Very true Sharona. I'm the latter......to hell with the flu shot! I've never had the flu shot in my life, and never will.

I love how the media causes pandamonium instilling fear in everyone....lol...too funny. "Media is the right hand of anarchy"

Sooooo true, Daniel. As an example, remember the chaos surrounding the 'mad-cow' scare (you know about that one ), the 'bird flu' and others. Now this one. Some fears are warranted, others are blown out of proportion.

People are lining up for hours and there's almost pandemic fear about there not being enough flu vaccine. One healthcare worker was saying that even some of those who brought their children or 'high-riskers' to get shots demanded vehemently that they get their shot, too. Nurses said they weren't turning anybody away, even though supplies of the vaccine were getting low (as of last night's newscast, that is).

You hit the nail on the head with your statement about the media. Although many times what they say is accurate...at times, it comes with an added dose of drama.
Hopefully, clear heads prevail, and those who genuinely need or want the H1N1 shot will get it and benefit from it, and that those who don't get vaccinated will be fine, too. Ought to be an interesting season.

for every cheerleader's life the vaccine has ruined, it has statistically saved far more lives?

i'm not getting it just because i don't really care to sit around and wait 10 minutes after an injection... it's a lot of effort, and i think the television media blows things out of proportion.

however, if it's declared a pandemic, i would suggest going to get your shot.

Flu shots are bull. They are all outdated and with the help of the media somebody is making loads of money from silly fears that people have. There were never any lineups up until that 13 year old died. Within a day, I had about 30people ask me if I heard about the 13 year old kid. That's insane. Listen to the radio, they suggest you get the flu shot all the time and its becoming like brainwashing.
So I say *** that, and good immune system is better than a stupid shot.

Some people don't have a good immune system though. I got the flu shot once some time ago, and the next i fell ill (stayed in bed ill). So i said **** that, never got it again, and I never got sick like that ever after that. The worst i'll get is stuffed nose or sore throat. Weird.

Heard it reported that if you've already had the flu in the past little while , it was most likely H1N1--so the concern about contracting it once again need not be a worry. Whether that's true or not, don't know...although, I did hear it on TV...so it must be true.

You have triumphed--the swine and their silly flu shall not prevail.
It's good that your antibiotics are done, and that you're feeling so much better. Nice to read that, Daniel.

Having a son and making the decision is tough. I fear for the side affects it may have on him. As of right now, we have decided NOT to get him the shot, he is turning 1 shortly. I am not fully educated on the situation and truthfully, I feel scared regardless of which way I go.

Dont vaccinate - he dies from bacon flu
Vaccinate - He ends up on you tube all messed up.

I already got shillacked this summer. I battled it for 2 months, my son got sick from me as did my wife for about 3 days. I thought i was dying to be honest.

I'm so sick of listening to this H1N1 crap.. It's only a flu people !
Weak people die, only the strong survive. Just like any other flu.

Why not worry about obesity, heart attacks and cancer instead ?
People are dying of this, left right and center !

Dumb governments !

Seems the huge panic attack of last week has eased a little regarding H1N1. Around here they're closing one of the Assessment Centres.
Wonder if it will start up again as winter progresses and more people contract it.

Come and gone, just like SARS.

Now the media has to think of the next sickness that they can use to cause pandomonium.

Seems if there's a will, there's a way:

Nothing like taking advantage of a situation.

SARS was a big problem, killed a lot of people and the people who didn't die are still suffering from its effects today. Its totally different from SARS.
