you cant compare the two.
the car costs half of what the bmw costs.
i am pretty sure with the extra half that the bmw costs if it where to be put into the srt8 the bmw would get smoked left right and centre.

I agree but it would still be a chrysler, the m5 is an M5 you cant compare the 2 no matter what you do! not saying the SRT8 is terrible, just saying its not an M5 no matter what you spend on it =p
plus BMW has alot of engineering going into their M series cars, probably a fair bit of F1 influence into their motors for sure
i mean common 5L V10 making 380lb-tq =p? still moves that heavy car fast
Power: 373 kW , 500 HP SAE @ 7,750 rpm; 383 ft lb , 520 Nm @ 6,100 rpm
high revving too 8250rpm redline >_> god damnit sorry i just love the m5 :<

bah...my 1999 Civic would take that M5 by atleast 2 car lengths
my car 120 HP w/ 110torque..
thats all you really need...just pop the M5's tires before the race and then we'll c how fast that puppy can move on just rims...lol
nah i love the M5 and im glad it beat out the POS domestic

why do you think the cars cost as much as they do? only for their names? HELL NO. its the amount of research, technology and performance that they are putting out. that being said its not comparable.

unfortunately analytical thinking doesnt cut it when it comes to cars. its nice to see when they are comparing american's best with the europeans best but when the cars where made they were meant to be the best in each of their representing countries first before competing

i still think it's a fair comparison.... they took the 'top of the line' sedan from each of the two companies...
entry level BMW costs way more than entry level Chrysler.... you pay more for the name than you do for the R&D...
i would never drive that 300C ... and when compared to an M5? dear god why? you saw the body roll when he took a turn at 60km/h... my civic with stock susp had less body roll than that..
the difference really lies in that the average american (the person who is supposed to be the target of the 300C) doesn't know/care about good handling, etc etc... they want a big horsepower number so they can brag to their friends... that's what the 300C gives them... it's not about fuel economy... it being its a v8 that is a full litre bigger than the M5 v10...
but regardless of what you guys say look @ the numbers... financial numbers i mean... Chrysler is in talks to sell itself and be spun off from Mercedes cuz they're doing terribly... GM is having similar problems... while German and Japanese automakers are putting down record sales figures month after month after month...
think what you will, but clearly the general public is starting to see things much like Top Gear and other drivers do..
