Supra Overhaul Project

Just commenced work on replacing the timing belt and head gasket last night...

Head gasket set. Has all gaskets for all components on and related to the cylinder head, including valve seals...

More pics to come...

Nothing special. Just an 89 NA 5 speed targa roof. Almost no rust, 230k. full set of summer and snow tires (both like new). But, as you can see, like every other MK3 supra, it has a blown head gasket (though you couldn't tell by how well it runs). Considering what I paid for it, definitely worth fixing...

Well, after A LOT of time and effort, the car is back together and runs WAAAY stronger and snappier than before. And it's no wonder, when you see the pics, sure it ran fine before, but it was gutless. lol.

The head gasket was blown at all 6 cylinders, which would definitely cause a loss of power... Not blown to the point of catastrophic failure, but enough to blow out combustion/exhaust into the coolant. It used to die out and not make any more power above 5000. Now it pulls hard right up past 6000. Can even feel the ACIS (variable intake runner system) kick in like vtec at 4000. Very impressed with the performance considering the vehicle's weight.

Anyways, here's the pics. Enjoy. (Sorry the pics aren't that great. Took them with my black berry...)
