The story behind my car

Hey guys, my name is Raman im new to the civic scene. Well a couple months in. Anyway this is my civic that i drive. Here is the little story behind it.

Basically this whole project is done with me and my uncle. My uncle use to own a taxi mechanic shop for about 10 years before retiring. Im a noob to cars. Everything done in this project i give credit to my uncle. I basically watched, did a few things that i could do. But i was there every work day.

June 27th 2007 my uncle bought me my first car. Honda civic si 2000, i thought it was the american Si which had the b16. I was all happy then later maybe a few months later found out it had the **** box d16. We picked it up on a car auction for 1000 US flat. Here is a picture.

Pretty banged up eh. We initially thought that all we had to do was put it on the frame machine and straighten it out. But when we got the car, and popped the hood, it was a whole new story. It basically needs a whole front clip. Which is what this whole project is.

My phone got stolen with most of the pictures from the start of the project.

Here is the car with a 99 civic ex front clip. Its green and will be needed to be painted later. In order to weld this clip on, the firewall insulation had to be removed. Thus, the whole dash had to come out.

Dash all out and ugly.

Once that was all out the clip was welded. It was a big pain to take the dash out and put it back in.

Now Here is the lovely suspension.

Sealing up the new welds to make it look like factory work.

Another view

We needed additional parts a part from new fenders bumpers etc.. so we bought a 99 sir front clip and swaped some parts from there. Added the front bar. Dont know the exact name.

Dash all in. Big headache annoying ****.

Sealed up all the spot welds, to make it look OEM with some black sticky stuff. Forget the name once again.

The while clip needs to be painted black. Here it is:

Time to put the suspension back in place

Here is the orginal engine with 130000 kilometers. d16y8.

Now time to put the engine back in. Note i had a choice of putting a h22 in here but i didn't know jack **** about civics and just wanted the car fast that i didn't really seem to care to put it in. I would have to wait another 3 weeks to order parts for the h22 and didnt want to wait. So we went with the orginal d16y8.

Here it is going in:

Hoses, vaccums and everything connected here it is. The car sounds so mean with no cat connected to the car.

Another:

Some minor tune ups are still needed before the fenders bumper etc go on. We had to bleed the brakes and install adjust the clutch. Also the break petal was to low, so that took some time to fix aswell. DOnt' have any pictures here.

Here is the car with fenders, new hood and door installed.

and:

Now for the paint. I decided to keep it black. But we changed it slightly. The colour is black with blue pearl. It looks like sex when washed and waxed.

Bascially the car is finished from here. Minor tune ups left. Oil change, transmission oil etc... Spent a good 4 hours cleaning the interior. This took approx 4 months to complete as me and my uncle were only working 1 day a week. And missed many weeks because of weddings etc..

End of october, installed a fullcatback exhaust. I don't know the name of it got it from a JDM import store in brampton. Sounds nice and deep not very loud or ricy..

Mid november installed full car audio system. 2 amps full components and 6x9. 2 subswoofers with the help of my uncle.

November 1st i did a short ram install (DC sports brand) MYSELF lol yay.

March 28th - Picked up some SIR rims for 300 bucks off a member on here. Came with rubber but the rubber is ****. One rim is in horrible condition i need to get it refinished. Other 3 are mint.

April 8th. Bought full skunk2 shocks and springs. Lowered the car approx 2.5 in the front and 2.2 in the back

Car as of today with tints, suspension and rims.

Here is a pic of how low it dropped. This is the back. it had a nice drop.

Here is the front i wish it was a little lower. Meh

I have a SIR lip that is supose to me painted. Its been at the shop were the car was fixed for 4 weeks now. Lazy people. I think it will look much better with the lip. Im also looking to change the grill and get some projector lights that are black. Got any suggestions for the car let me know.
Now im saving up for a b18c1. Looking to install this once summer starts. If you guys have any questions ask away, i seem to pick up a lot of knowledge doing this project. Hope you guys liked it.

Raman

Got the car for 1000 US. The place we did all the work is my uncles friends. Hes known them for 15 + years. So we just pay for parts and we can work on the car there. For example the paint we just paid for and they painted it. Parts etc.. it came close to 3000. With the system, exhaust, tints, rims, suspension. Coming close to 4000.

She drives nice. There was some issues with the suspension, like clicking noises. But after replacing all bushings and the aftermarket suspension she drives nice and smooth.
