"This is why Quaker State has just launched a novel cashback bonus in North America that promises up to $3,000 if you take care of your car.
Normally, we don’t bother with promotional gimmicks at Toronto Star Wheels, but this one really caught our eye.
The deal is that if you have a car that was manufactured within the last 72 months, then before it reaches 160,000 km, Quaker State wants you to start using one of three of its specialty long-life oils.
If you change the oil at the manufacturer’s recommended intervals, then when the vehicle reaches 400,000 km, the oil company will give you a cheque for the Blue Book value of the car in “good” condition, up to $3,000. It’s transferable if you sell the car, and the owner still gets to keep it.
That sounds pretty sweet. There are provisos, of course.
Quaker State wants you to use its full synthetic, or synthetic blend, or higher mileage oil, which can cost roughly twice as much as regular oil."
