solenoids!

they are installed into the car using custom welded brackets.

some screw the solenoids to the inner door skin...doing that can cause buckling or shifting of the solenoid over time.

we took the latches out of the door and made custom welded brackets to hold the solenoids in place. so there's no pulling on the door itself. just on the latch.

the power for them just runs from the alarm. when you disarm, you hit "unlock" as if you were using power locks, and it pops the driver side. hit the alt button, pops passenger side.

we also shaved the lock off the trunk. the 93 del sols had no inner compartment trunk release. so to shave the lock, we did yet another solenoid and it's run off the alarm/pager unit also.

i just pray that one doesn't fail....or it's time to cut a hole in the trunk :P

As I said before, the attention to detail is impressive--even the stitching matches.

Ron, I am impressed with the underbody components (being pink) and the amount of detail into the fabric/leather.

Definitely not a cheap work.

The society has molded us to believe that pink is for girl, and blue is for boy; where as all colours are created by man and shall be used freely by any individual.

Not every colour is everyone's taste. Because people don't like a particular colour or is considered a female colour is a matter of opinion and as Charles stated a Society branded colour. Either way, the workmanship is there. May not be some people's cup of tea, but kudo's for being unique and going with what you like regardless of what anybody else says.

I didn't just choose the colour just cuz i like it.

I also chose the colour because it was kind of a "joke"...

we had the car apart...

suspension was off and ready for powder coating and had to choose the swatch, interior was out and had to order the materials, the body was stripped of every panel and the paint had to be ordered...

we were sitting around the car looking at it, we went online ot look at del sols and what had already been done, what we liked and didn't like...

I WAS going to go the same gunmetal black that my EG hatch was ( http://www3.sympatico.ca/nicotine/civic06.jpg and http://www3.sympatico.ca/nicotine/onthegrass.jpg )

a buddy of mine was like... It's a convertable! paint it pink! (he's a fan of classic cars.. there sure are lots of guys that rock out pink classics....)

so, i told him "ok smartass".... he didn't think I would. shoulda seen his face when he showed up and it was being painted and the interior was all finished

and, it's just a colour...it would be a bit of work to switch it all, but it can be done. A car colour isn't forever, but I will kind of toot my own horn, it turned out better than I had thought it would at least

I do have a black EK hatch (in progress!!! pics within a few weeks of it done), if that helps balance things out a bit

Enough is enough. It's one thing to have an opinion and state you don't like the colour of the car etc, but this ragging and telling him to repaint the car and it will be better and all the other crap is getting to be real tiresome. There is a thing called positive critisizm, even if it's to say you don't like the car. Just say so and leave it at that.

In any event, this thread is now closed.

Oh yeah, in case you missed it
