Those rims aren't bad for a beater.
I was at one point thinking of getting the EL turtles for my winters.

You're not using the 912s for winter tires, are you? That would be nuts!

912's are allseason tires. I dont beleive in all out winter tires for city driving.
Unless you go way up north, you dont need winter tires.
best bang for the buck, compare:

when it snows it snows. But when there's alot of snow or ice storm, just stay home. LoL
As long as the tires are less than 6 years old, and have less than 60,000 kms on them, you should be fine for winter driving.

I have the 512s and it was nuts driving that in slick conditions. I had to get winters.

512's are 8 year old technology ! They werent that good to begin with.
Also how was the tread on the tires ? How old were the tires ?
Once rubber dries out, it doesnt stick as well.
All tires should be replaced before 6 years no matter how much mileage is on them.

It was brand spanking new for last summer until around the first snow fall I think was in late Dec. So it would probably rack up approx 8k on it.

thanks.
btw, If you noticed on the pics, the yellow dot on my tires line up with the valve stem.
This is done so that the wheels are balanced perfectly.

Tires23 does is right. Most tires shops dont.
