Workin on the megasquirt this past weekend. It's probably 80% complete. Just making sure I'm installing the correct components to communicate and control the stock ignition system. Once that is done, just have to build the cable to connect to the stock harness and I'm nearly there!

Here are some pics of the progress...

Probably spent a good 8-10 hours on it thus far. Most people don't have the patience for something like this. I'm actually really enjoying building this. But yeah, I'm a nerd!

^MPR, I'm interested in the MegaSquirt. Once you get it working with your setup, can you send me a list of what's needed to make a MS work on a honda with Vtec?

BTW, great pics and loving the build thread!

^Thanks.

Certainly. Just be aware, MS requires a lot more patience, time and research, especially if you build it yourself. If it's something you enjoy and want to save some dough, then it's definitely worth it. If you'd rather just plug and play and have someone else tune it, there are other easier options for tuning hondas.

Main reasons for why I've gone with MS: it's capabilities, ability to tune it myself any time and anywhere, tuning software is free and open-source, and also it can be used on any vehicle so it's not limited to only honda like typical chipped obd1 ecu's.

It can do some interesting things with vtec control. You can have it triggered by rpm as usual but also by throttle position as well. MS has many spare inputs and outputs for extra sensors/switches as well as the ability to control several different types of components like electronic boost controller solenoids, vtec solenoids and other fun stuff like that and be triggered by various factors like boost, rpm, throttle position, gear selection... the list goes on.

^I've been eying up the MS for quite some time now. I have an electronics background and therefore I'm not scared to solder a whole ECU. It's something I enjoy doing.

Is there anything you need to purchase from MS besides:
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/m...ase-p-119.html (the kit)
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/p...ans-p-126.html (relay control mod kit)(vtec)
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/i...844-p-467.html (WB O2)

Is there anything else that is needed?
How does the WB O2 connect to the MS?

Thanks and sorry for jacking your thread.

^You'll have a blast then!

This is a good detailed description of what all you need to do to run MS on a honda: http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_arti...onda_acura.htm

Just make sure you follow the instructions for the correct version and board (MSII PCBv3.0) (or which ever you chose to go with).

At the bottom there is a mod kit list. I'm ordering all 3 mod kits. They are for ignition setup, IACV control and vtec control. Nothing too complicated.

As for the wide band O2 communication for the MS, you'll have to follow the directions. It's all on the megamanual website and in the instructions that comes with the innovate MTX-L unit. I haven't read up on all of that just yet, but I know it's not complicated.
