the new model is totally done up under direct supervision and control of the japanese. they did admit their mistakes due to the issues with the previous models.....here is one piece of the write-up. only time will prove however how good the new 6 is:
"Car companies don't admit mistakes, but Hiroshi Kajiyama doesn't have a problem fessing up to a few missteps. He's the chief program engineer for the forthcoming 2009 Mazda 6 and although his English isn't perfect, it's clear he knows the current car has problems.
Weak engines, a tight backseat and a dull interior were all on his fix-it list. He talks to us about maintaining plenty of zoom-zoom in the new car, and of course, an exciting exterior design wouldn't hurt either. "We sought an exterior design capable of stirring emotions and distinguishing the Mazda 6 from the competition. We also strived to achieve a character that encourages a strong level of interaction with the driver," says Kajiyama"
in the past, mazda didnt had jap experts directly involved at the manufacturing level for cars made for north america so my point is that having them this time will only result in a much better product overall.

Nowhere in there does it say that Ford is not the owner of Mazda. Because they make redesigns and confess to mistakes doesn't mean Ford has nothing to do with it.
As long as they are under their branch there will be alway crossover platforms imo.
Still a Ford.

It's not a Ford just because its owned by them. I have a friend who managed the Guelph Toyota plant, and i went through the whole factory it was fully Canadian operated, but their standards and specs were all Japanese, which is what makes a car good or bad not the owner who owns the name.
It's all about the recipe, thats why we keep them secret, because anyone can use the secret to copy cat.
Although my view might be a little bias i already bought one on order for my GF as a wedding Gift, hope she likes this, i merely picked it because the Mazda 6 was popular with the females/married that is.
Good find.

Not really,I'd still buy, its inevitable property switches hands just like money, its a cycle, i think standards will still be the same people just want money, not the headache of taking the responsibility to make something they have no idea about, trading and buying out car companies is just like we do with stocks or other commercial companies, its to build assets, make more profit, and become a stronghold decision maker with the most % global share, which keeps you in power to stay at the top.

FYI, what you saw is called manufacturing LOL, use that in case someone try to say VW is Mexican car. Not in this case lol
Ford, Volvo and Mazda do share several platforms. But not all, like the RX8. However, Mazda6 share the same platform with Fusions. Its very understandable because of the cost of manufacturing will be minimal
