A little sneak peak of my summer project

So after many months of debating, researching and looking around...i finally got my Hid kit..well..an OEM HID retro kit actually. The projectors are bi-xenon and are from an 05 BMW M3 (More commonly known as the E46 projectors). The ballasts, Ignitors, bulbs and all other parts are also from the same car. The shrouds or bezels are from a range rover.

I am debating now whether to do the headlights all black/gunmetal (jay dee mm style), a mix of black and chrome or leave it all original chrome for a more OEM look.

Will be updating this thread as time goes by.....

nice....leave it all original chrome for that OEM look!! can't wait to See how it goes. maybe you can do a 'how-to' for this. i was thinking bout doing a retrofit cause i hate my ****in pnp hid's...GARBAGE!

are all these parts brand new and bought from the dealer? if so, how much did everything cost you??

i scored the complete kit off ebay....the dealers dont sell kits actually. they will only sell you the headlights together with all the parts and can typically charge you around $600 plus for one headlight alone.

a buddy of mine will be helping me out doing the electrical part...but i will try to take pics...a DIY writeup will be cool and i also wanna do it.

compared with a pnp kit, the difference in output and quality is day and night.

Wicked find bro, very nice!!!! Get it started man!! I think you should do your housings black and keep the bezels chrome.\

I can't wait to see this done. I love the razor sharp cut-off line beam pattersn the OEM projectors make. pure sickeness

To properly get the glare out of non-factory HID housing, you need to sand the headlight cover flat. A shroud will help, but to get the best result, make it flat.

96-00 lens cover is flat but its not absolutely clear. there are i guess 3-4 lines that run across the width of the lens cover and they can not be sanded down since they are embeded inside the plastic surface. i am working with a spare set actually....i sanded them down and then buffed them out...they are much clear now but not close to a brand new set.

was that what you meant charles..when you said flat?

one of the option is to go with the following look...all black but im not sure how good it will look on a black car....on a lighter color car...may be

second option is to keep an OEM look and do not paint anything...

a bit of progress over the past few days...the projectors are now mounted...im making shrouds at the moment. still havent decided whether to add some black or gunmetal color somewhere..lol

wish me luck guys...i need to finish all of this before the show coming this weekend.

p.s: Buddah...you really dont need that saw you are talking about. the projectors are mounted with the help of a metal bracket at the bottom of the reflector housing (helps in rotational adjustment as well)...plus the D2S bulb will go right through the back as you will put the H4....no need to cut the grey housing at all.
