It could be. They use all kinds of makes and models for their Community Liaison Officers. I've seen a TPS Beetle and Smart Car.

They don't use these cars for routine patrols, just to schools and community centres. They don't even have roof lights.

I can't be 100% sure, but i think its nothing to do with gas, just variety, like down town they might run 4cyl cars then lets say yukons in hilly areas, i have seen the opp GMC yukon Black/white truck pulling over cars left and right on hwy 7 all the time, then one day i saw the new mustang black/white gt with no roof lights, from what i saw on the GMC when i passed by slowly they have those roof sirens inside the vehicle, facing outward in the top part of the front and rear windshield. The first ones i ever saw were the crown victorias, then the GMC Yukon, then the mustang, i think i might have also seen a ford focus from a distance, but i could be wrong, the "geek squad" has the same sort of coloring scheme as the OPP.

But nice find.
