F1 driver may loose hand!

F1 driver may lose his hand after major crash - The Globe and Mail

"Robert Kubica’s racing future is uncertain after he suffered multiple injuries during a rally event in Italy"

Rally driving is crazy. Can't belive more people aren't seriously hurt but either way lets all hope for the best for this guy.

Read about this on Jalopnik... pretty crazy. When you look at the car vs his injuries, it's incredible how much safer racing is today...

They say most likely he will not be able to compete in the 2011 F1 season, but I'm sure he'll rally back (no pun intended) for the 2012 season. race car drivers are pretty resilient...

He just came out of his coma, they had to basically reattach all the ligaments and veins in his hand. I don't see a comeback, the elbow and forearm are also ****ed. Its a shame, he was a great driver, I loved him at Renault he did well.

I'm very surprised F1 allows their drivers to compete in other events like this when the capacity to injure yourself is high. Kubica is no stranger to crashes, I remember his fantastic one in Montreal a few years ago...

And he may not even be out of the danger zone yet, depending on how things go.
Doesn't the article mention something about the fact that he still may lose his hand?
"Although his doctors felt it was “in good shape,” the 26-year-old may still lose his hand due to complications or perhaps never regain full use."

Hope not, that would be dreadful. :(

maybe they needed the new driver in order to make contract with Kubica still legal maybe crash wasnt a bad deal for them. just went too wrong. Classical mystery. I hope he can fully recover in order to jack off with both hands I mean cut corners. best of F1 2010 "OK Fernando is faster than you I hope you understand this message."
