Lightbulb EG Hatch Si Build thread !!! *pics*

Hello everyone !

I've had my hatch for about a year now, and even though its far from "done," it has still come a long way..
When i first got it, i didn't know what to do with it, and tried selling it a couple of times because i wasnt sure how serious i was about the whole thing, but as time passed i slowly worked on it, and eventually started liking it much more

This has been the project so far:

HOW THE CAR LOOKED WHEN I GOT IT- all stock, including motor, tranny, clutch, everything...

The body was in decent shape, there was no rust (at the time) on most body pannels, and the underneath of the car was very nice too

The engine bay.... not so much...

interior was great though

*** the car ran great, and made it through the first winter without any problems, and the stock z6 engine had 289xxx on it at the time, with original tranny/clutch, not bad ***

Over the next couple of months i slowly started adding small little things:
- 4 rotors + pads (november 2008)
- Alpine speakers + deck (november 2008)
- oem Rad (february 2009)
- oem Oil pan (february 2009)
- oem Fuel filter (february 2009)
- OptionRacing short ram air intake (march 2009)
- SR*S catback exhaust (march 2009)
- Front upper + Rear upper strut bars (june 2009)

also painted the hatch black

Engine bay was cleaned up a bit, changed rad, fuel filter, and cleaned her upa little

also painted turn signals orange

Then once the summer started, i started getting a little serious...
with a little extra money from work the first thing i had in mind was to MAKE IT LOWER!!! (of course)

and also started changing some body pannels which were starting to show bad rust (front 2 fenders and hatch)

upgrades for the summer:
- Rear Lower stabilizer bar (september 2009)
- Koni reds + skunk 2 springs + new bushings (september 2009)
- Gold rear lower control arms + new bushings (september 2009)
- New lower ball joints (september 2009)
- "new" 2 front fenders (august 2009)
- "new" hatch (october 2009)

-- Now after all this was done, i spent a good couple of weeks working on repainting the whole car. I really didn't like the teal colour, and have been thinking about changing it for a while, but didn't have the money to get it professionally done: so i started sanding away...

after several ideas of what colour the car should be, i settled for a cheaper alternative...see for yourself

(note that the loud *** exhaust was removed and replaced with the stock one. i cut the tip of it really short and painted it flat black.. looks okay, sounds like ****)

not bad?

^^ The paint is a thick grey primer, but it looks white. I did all the paint work on the car myself, and used a roller to paint it. now i KNOW that's ghetto, but i actually really like the textured flat white look.

The new hatch was repainted flat black along with the roof and the mirrors - the trim was taken off, and i cut custom holes in the hood (i am working on making a cover for it that i can clip on for when the snow hits...)

THE ENGINE BAY AND MOTOR / TRANNY / CLUTCH REMAIN STOCK AT THE MOMENT with 306xxx and counting... im still thinking if i want to swap a b16/18 in there, but money isnt good at the moment, so it wont be happening any time soon.

AND THATS IT...
any comments are welcome, and i will be posting more information on my build as it comes along!

i slotted 6 rectangular pieces out of the hood and flared them out to make a hood vent right above the air intake. not that the car was necessariky overheating, but i also loke how it looks

no i'm not ricing the car... no full vader kit, no euro tails, no 50' wing, no 20" spinner dubs, no underglow.. (or whatever may be considered rice)

this is basically all i wanted to do to the car aesthetically, which is all stock with a black/white colour scheme AND the hood vents

the paint is very thick and the edges have been covered, so as for rust, it should hold up for now. and when it rains other than the filter getting slightly wet, there is no water being sucked into the IM.

although i am planning on making a cover for it for when the snow storms come, or maybe just replace it with a winter hood alltogether. still got time to think about it
