Detailing the Exterior

So when these four guys get together....

You usually get a good result

although i wanted to apply a second coat of polish and wax but ran out of time. i also noticed that while the shine became much deeper, minor nicks and scratches there were not visible before sort of resurfaced..lol just too many dings and bruises all over her.

you have a rotary buffer, or you do it all by hand?

Yes, that looks very very nice. How come the dirt from your car didn't get on your clothes on the last pic? Usually does on me, lol.

took me around three hours to wash, clay, polish and wax....did it all by hand except in the end i used a rotary buffer as the final step. i think the rotary is good for areas such as bottom of doors and bumpers where you can not apply alot of force if buffing by hand but otherwise...i prefer to do it by hand. if you use a high speed device like porter cable..im sure you can get even better results.

the lip kit if all oem...the front is an 99-00 sir lip and grill and the rear is a 96-98 si one.

thanks for all comments guys

I'm still a rookie when it comes to washing my car. I just basically wash, then once in a while like once a year turtle wax it. What's the purpose of tha clay bar and glaze you have there? What goes on first in the order of what you have lined up in the first pic?

the order that you should follow is this....

Wash > Dry > Clay > Polish > Wax

having said that...you dont necessarily have to use clay everytime you wash (provided you wash and maintain your car's exterior on a regular basis). a clay bar basically serves to remove surface contamination from the paint...and one of the worst forms of contamination is brake dust. if a car is not washed on a regular basis...these contaminants get bonded to your paint...once this happens...they can not be removed by just washing...you either have to use a polishing compound (which will take away a bit of paint with itself) or use a clay bar.....so this is what a clay does in brief. and you must lubricate the surface with a quick detailer before you apply clay.

i generally wash my car..at least once in 10-14 days or so throughout the year so i dont use all the products everytime. just a simple quick detailer application is enough.

Thanks Salman, I'll follow those instructions and see what the results will be. As for now, when I wash and dry, paint still looks dull and surface scratches are more noticable.
