2010 Acura TL AWD-SH Tech
Hey guys. So here's my dad's new ride. I gotta say, it's exceeded my expectations so far. Aside from the ugly front grill, the rest of the car looks pretty nice. It handles really well, does not feel like a 4000lbs car at all! See link at the end of pg for more pics =) enjoy!

Thought i'd take shots of it factory phresh, before any rain/dirt/dust or even a first wash (yes, i realize the dealer washed it once already). |
Beauty car, Beauty pics!

Loooks clean!
But i m not a big fan of the TL. I dont have a problem with the front but the back is just ugly .. Nonetheless nice car to drive! |
I'm a big mechanical/tech/engineering type geek, and the only reason I like this car is for it's awd system. lol
If you don't know, as well as variably splitting the power between the front and rear wheels, it also splits the power variably between right and left at the rear. It can essentially divert more power to the outside rear wheel to help in cornering acceleration. That's pretty cool. Though, I'd have to drive it myself to see how well it works...hehe :) The looks are growing on me, mainly because it's quite a bit different then most other cars on the road. They also offer this thing with a 6-speed manual... Delicious! :p |

You can see the bar on the passenger rear is the longest (most torque). Then the passenger front. Then one of the driver's sides (cant remember). The SH just pulls you thru the corners. I would've thought that a nearly 4000lbs car would've been MUCH more sluggish and clumsy than this. But the AWD SH makes the car feel lighter than the 3g TL!! When you accellerate, you can see the bars on the rear go longer than the front. When u lift off the gas (we dont have the 6sp manual), you can see the bars drop to 0. Cruising the bars are small at the fronts only. You get the idea. |
Cool stuff!
Yeah, it's a far cry from the old and cheap "apply the brakes on the wheel you don't want power to go to" system, which does more harm then good when trying to accelerate. If you think about they way most car are propelled, it's easier to under stand why applying more power to the outside wheels in a corner can easily make a heavy car suddenly feel much lighter and not behave like a boat...lol. This is the type of electronic system I LIKE, which ACTUALLY HELPS the car to accelerate and corner better, instead of slowing the car down by cutting power and applying the brakes the moment the computer thinks the car is going to slip or lose control (like traction control stability management....eeewww!) Very cool indeed. |
